A few of my favorites including [Marginalia Search, which is “an independent DIY search engine that focuses on non-commercial content, and attempts to show you sites you perhaps weren’t aware of in favor of the sort of sites you probably already knew existed](https://archive.ph/o/PHmtH/https://search.marginalia.nu/)”. (It also runs on a single PC in Sweden, so if you use it, [kick the creator a donation, lol.](https://archive.ph/o/PHmtH/https://www.marginalia.nu/marginalia-search/supporting/)) Another one is [Wiby](https://archive.ph/o/PHmtH/https://wiby.me/), which focuses on older sites; and there’s [Million Short, a search engine that removes the top million most-popular sites from its results](https://archive.ph/o/PHmtH/https://millionshort.com/), so you get more subterranean material. ([View Highlight](https://read.readwise.io/read/01h7r57vpv5v2h7sde5qcxqpbs)) - Note: More offbeat [[Search Engine]] - Another interesting one is [Ooh! Directory](https://archive.ph/o/PHmtH/https://ooh.directory/). It’s an old-school throwback to the original Yahoo: A hand-curated directory of web sites, with an emphasis on ones run by individuals. It’s got [a page that highlights the most recent posts by the sites in the directory](https://archive.ph/o/PHmtH/https://ooh.directory/updated/), making it something like a low-fi RSS reader of a very specific blog-set ([View Highlight](https://read.readwise.io/read/01h7r531g3yjaagc1kdp5wdcpt)) - Note: should have searched for something like that myself lol
