Hello and welcome to my digital garden! This is a spot where some of my writing lives and grows before being polished and released on either my blog https://www.christolute.com/ or other social media platforms.
**Philosophy of a Digital Garden:**
Writing on the internet ranges from ephemeral drafts (tweets or Facebook statuses) to permanent published items (blogs). A digital garden falls somewhere between them. The writing and other content here is just like an organic garden. It will be planted, grow and change over its lifetime, and probably then be shuffled around somewhere else. The structure of the garden will change from season to season, and the focus of the garden will adapt over time. It’s not permanent, but it’s not quite ephemeral either.
**Why publish if it’s not done?:**
One of my core beliefs is that writing should be read and shared. It doesn’t matter if the work is done, it’s healthier to get eyes on a page than to keep things locked away.
Digital Gardens also “solve” the editing and polishing problem. Not every piece of writing should make it through the editing process, but that process does take time and sometimes it’s nice to just share the thought first before seeing if it needs more work. Hence the middle ground of a shareable platform for “incomplete” writing.
