# The CCI #41, #450 - the Villains I Seek
The cups from these primers primers may have caused more ftf (failure to fires) than any other issue with primer reloading.
The #450 and the #41 share the same thick cup (0.025) but are different colors: The alloy of the cup is harder than that of the other primers (sp, sr, spm)
The #450 contains a [[Image CCI Universal|universal CCI anvil]] within a chrome colored cup.
The #41 contains "dwarf" anvil in a (unfortunately) brass colored cup. The "short" anvil was a added as a second safety feature built into the #41 primer.
Because my favorite round is the 223/556 - I reload and shoot this ammo the most - so I seek, reload, and recycle this primer/brass the most frequently.
But I am very careful to never mix-up these primer cups (and the "dwarf" anvils) with any other primer types - Ever!
I can almost guarantee your ftf will skyrocket to 50% merely by using the wrong cup/anvil. How do I know? I tried it with commercial primers in a "Baby" Glock 26.

The Dwarf Anvil is considerably shorter.

#41's (I see a few misidentified ones!)

I know the thick cup causes most of the failures - but the short anvil may be responsible for many of the failures too.
If you inadvertantly use the wrong 41/450 cup and a dwarf anvil in tandem, reload a 380 acp and use this ammo in a pea shooter - I don't give the primer/bullet much chance for success.
The CCI 450:

has a "chrome" or nickle plated cup (like the #41/thickness 0.025) and the same powder as the #41.
