# JB's Thoughts On Chlorate/Perchlorate Just wanted to piggyback on Mark's comment above -about corrosive primers. By and large this means containing chlorate/perchlorate as oxidizer- I prefer a modified recipe for EPNO that contains 8% potassium chlorate. If you clean your weapon after firing this no big deal, just swab the barrel out a few times with a water based solvent and do the same with breech face/bolt. I have been using these primers now for quite some time and also shoot Pyrodex and perchlorate based powder in my muzzle loaders. I assure you the bore and weapons are pristine and can provide pics for any doubters. Now if you forget to clean your weapon, especially for several days in humid conditions that is a different matter entirely and I did corrode up a Sig Sauer barrel rather badly last year for my forgetfulness-even so all the corrosion was removed with bristle brush. Point is don't necessarily discount corrosive primers or worry that they will ruin your firearms - FA-70 was used by Remington and Winchester to load billions of rounds for the US military in WW2
