# FA - 70 Discussion JB: FA-70, once you have all your ingredients and have weighed them out in correct ratios, is made by simply mixing thoroughly.   What should be kept in mind is it's sensitized by wet loading, the water/alcohol distributes the particles in such manner that impact sensitivity is markedly increased. - - - JB: I'm going to re-use a portion of FA-70, perhaps 2 grams, that I wetted with solvent/binder for the first test batch and didn't use up, it will be added to about 3 grams of mixed but un-wetted FA-70.   I kept that batch separate from the other as the lead/copper nitrate was prepped from spent bullets dug out of my Osage shooting log.  Now that I know it works fine I don't care about blending it with purchased analytical grade LN - - - JB: I found with FA-70 that shellac can de-sensitize the compound if too much is used, but shellac and gum Arabic was used by the military so obviously I just need to use the proper amount.   I sized about 100 SR cups last night, planning to load them with the remainder of FA-70 made from lead/copper thiocyanate made from digested bullets.  Planning to use dextrin solution blended with a small amount of wood glue (4-5 drops per 100 mls of dextrin solution) as the binder, plan to paste load using a plastic tube and plunger for more precise loadin
