# Danvils ### Choose a Bit and then choose the rotary tool & blade --- General Select a Bit or screw driver tip with following general shapes ![](https://i.imgur.com/7qoUeOu.png) Mark Says: My personal favorite is the first one. Security bits are easy to fashion into a danvil because of their hollow design. It's essentially like selecting prefabbed material. Even though very little material is removed - I still refer to this process as "hogging out" a danvil. It's a bad analogy but somehow it reminds me of "hogging out" an 80% lower (AR 15s). Torx Bits are "doable" and can be ordered as multipacks as well. The triangular bits are attractive because they are cheap and can also be ordered in 'say' 6 to 10 packs (.50 to $1 each). Y Bits, and Tri-Wings are also extremely easy to "Dremel". Hex Bits: I don't recommend hex bit for "Danvils" . They have proven to be somewhat difficult to shape into a danvil. It requires a steady hand and too much material must be removed with little room/forgiveness for error. --- Size of the originals Bits SP - Security Bit - CR - V1 or CR - V2 - Torx T25 or S2 or TR 27 - Triangular TA 27 - Y Bit #1 - Tri-Wing #1 <- needs a fact check LP - Triangular TA 3.0 or TR 3.0 #### Security Bits ![](https://i.imgur.com/hcGNRSr.png) ##### Reno says: Select the CR-V1 from this set. A dremel will make quick work of this bit into a sp danvil. ##### Select the CR-V2 may be used 'As-Is' for those "deep set anvils" #### Mark says: This HF set (above) is only around $13 for the whole kit. But you only get 1 CR-V1 and 1 CR-V2 bit. So you'll have to fashion a danvil from a 'say' Torx bit and/or Tri-Wing Bits should you break the other danvils. It's still a good buy because who doesn't need a bunch extra screw bits. --- Triangle Bits ![150](https://i.imgur.com/06vX9BU.png) Triangle bits - Set of ten from ebay TA27 TR27 https://www.ebay.com/itm/363965316601?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=0XuYVaerTvK&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=q9TWyRgLRJy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=SMS --- ![100](https://i.imgur.com/L2oh9kK.png) Tri-Wing Bit #1 - 25MM 10 Pack (John says "Mark - I have not tried these") https://www.wihatools.com/products/tri-wing-insert-bit-1-x-25mm-10-pack?_pos=1&_sid=d945971fd&_ss=r --- Torx: T25 (Mark says: I've not tried these but this set is a good buy) ![](https://aardvarkreloading.com/libbyimages/hJygpaS.png) ___ ### Ebay: Tri-wing/Tri-point/Y-type Driver Bit (Set of 40) 40 - Holy Cow! ![[Number 1 tri-wing tri-point y-type.png]] https://www.ebay.com/itm/375696089706?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=tb2ppjgjrvk&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=kedm5ZqqR72&var=644609872249&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY --- #### Diamond cutting wheels are thin ![150](https://i.imgur.com/OXgQXGB.png) John said: You need the thin blade to make clean cuts https://www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/rotary-oscillating-tools/diamond-rotary-cutting-discs-5-piece-69657.html --- ![150](https://i.imgur.com/A0x75m1.png) John used the dremel flexible extension https://www.dremel.com/us/en/p/225-02-26150225aj?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1 The dremel extension is only compatible with dremels.
