# Start By How You Feel
Start By How You Feel is the entry path for choosing a [[Well-being Practice|well-being practice]] from a current feeling state.
## Meaning
Sometimes a person does not want an ontology.
They want to know what to do next.
This path starts with the lived state:
- [[Feeling Anxious]]
- [[Feeling Tired]]
- [[Feeling Lonely]]
- [[Feeling Stuck]]
- [[Feeling Ashamed]]
- [[Feeling Unclear]]
Fast path:
Use the default first move unless another linked practice obviously feels smaller, safer, or easier.
Three-click route:
1. Click one practice in `Default first move`.
2. Try it once gently.
3. Click [[Did This Help]] and answer easier, harder, or about the same.
How to use the table:
- Fastest route: click the practice in `Default first move`.
- Deeper route: click the feeling in `Start with` if you want more context first.
- Either route is complete after one gentle attempt and one tiny result answer.
| If you feel... | Start with | Default first move | Why it may fit | Notice after |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| anxious | [[Feeling Anxious]] | [[Three Slow Breaths]] | small enough to do immediately | Is the next minute easier to inhabit? |
| tired | [[Feeling Tired]] | [[Eat One Real Meal]] | checks basic fuel first before solving the whole state | Does the body feel more supported? |
| lonely | [[Feeling Lonely]] | [[Call A Friend]] | brings real contact into the moment | Did contact create warmth, clarity, or support? |
| stuck | [[Feeling Stuck]] | [[Clean One Surface]] | creates visible order and lowers friction | Is the next action easier to see? |
| ashamed | [[Feeling Ashamed]] | [[Journal One Honest Sentence]] | lets one true sentence exist without a full confession | Did one true sentence create clearer meaning? |
| unclear | [[Feeling Unclear]] | [[Journal One Honest Sentence]] | creates one honest signal without forcing the whole answer | Is one next action easier to see? |
The goal is not to diagnose the feeling.
The goal is to make one supportive action easier to find.
If more than one feeling fits, choose a close-enough one.
If choosing feels unclear, choose [[Feeling Unclear]].
If more than one practice fits, choose the one that feels smallest, safest, and easiest to start.
The first practice does not need to be perfect.
It only needs to create information about what helps.
Treat the practice as an experiment, not a prescription.
If it makes things feel harder, stop, choose support, or use the smallest next safe action.
Practice completion rule:
```text
One gentle attempt counts.
Try the practice once, then stop and ask [[Did This Help]].
Do not keep optimizing before you notice the result.
```
Result handoff:
```text
Did the next moment feel easier, harder, or about the same?
That tiny answer is enough.
You can keep the result private. Noticing is already useful.
Share feedback only if it is public-safe and useful.
```
If self-guided practice feels too small for what you are carrying, use [[The Brotherhood Care Path]] or appropriate human support.
Use this path simply:
1. Pick a close-enough feeling.
2. Try one linked practice.
3. Use [[Practice Fit Map]] if you want to understand why the practice might fit.
4. Use [[Practice Result Loop]], [[Did This Help]], or [[Mynd Feedback Loop]] to notice what changed and share only public-safe feedback.
5. Follow the next word only if it feels useful.

If the feeling is intense, unsafe, or connected to immediate danger, stop using the graph and seek appropriate human, clinical, crisis, or emergency support.
## Source Of Meaning
This note is grounded in Joe's goal for the public Mynd to help people move from wandering through meaning into practices that support well-being.
## Relationship Over Time
This path should mature by watching which feeling states actually help people find useful actions.

## Tensions
A feeling-based path is useful because it is human. It must stay humble because feelings can be complex, private, clinical, relational, spiritual, physical, or situational.
## Question
What are you feeling enough to choose one supportive action?
