# Agreement
Agreement is a shared yes.
## Meaning
Agreement happens when two or more people say yes to the same meaning, claim, decision, promise, boundary, plan, or action.
Agreement depends on [[Understanding]], but it is more than understanding.
A person can understand a meaning and still [[Disagreement|disagree]] with it.
Agreement can be about what a word means.
Agreement can be about what is true.
Agreement can be about what is good.
Agreement can be about what will be done.
Agreement can create a [[Decision|decision]], a [[Relational Action|relational action]], a promise, a boundary, a plan, or a shared practice.
Agreement should be explicit when the cost of misunderstanding is high.
In Joe's Mynd, [[Shared Meaning]] can exist without agreement. Agreement means there is not only shared understanding, but a shared yes.
The honest opposite of agreement is [[Disagreement]].
## Source Of Meaning
This note is grounded in Joe's need to distinguish meaning, understanding, shared meaning, and agreement so that language alignment does not create false consent, false harmony, or false commitment.
## Relationship Over Time
This note should mature through real conversations where Joe and another person discover whether they merely understand each other, share meaning, agree, [[Disagreement|disagree]], or need a clearer decision.

## Tensions
Agreement can support trust and action, but false agreement can harm relationship. Joe's Mynd should make it easy to say "I understand, but I do not agree" without treating [[Disagreement|disagreement]] as failure.
