Screen Adaptable Material ([[Aloract|Aloracian]] tech)
This is a thin sheet of material that will display static or dynamic visual information when connected to. SCRAM controller.
They can be transparent or opaque, depending on the backing material. As such, it can be used for overlays in AR goggles. *When used in such a way, only the used portions of the display are subject to jamming, you can still see through the transparent portions.*
The controller itself is either built into a terminal or can be a small unit, about the size of a pen, that is attached to any side of the sheet.
Posters using the technology are know as “SCRAM sheets.” They often use short looping video to emphasize the subject of their message or advertisement.
SCRAM displays are readily available, but many still prefer the older analog [[EPD|electron phosphor displays]].
---
Positives - These are extremely thin and pliable.
They have no practical upper limit to their refresh rate.
They are exceptionally cheap and ubiquitous. Posters can be placed in public spaces and the material, and its controller, are not worth stealing for the tech.
Negatives - They are fully digital and use image processors, so they are susceptible to EO jamming.
But they can be damaged somewhat easily, by penetration or abrasions. A hole will not degrade the undamaged part of the SCRAM, but scratches will blur the image.
It is not repairable, and must be replaced.
