Few languages have survived since the [[First Era]]. During the [[Ceaseless Fray]], human language was homogenized in the name of standardization and sustainment [[STA-SUS]]. The common tongue throughout [[Human Space]] is currently known as “Aresian” (named after [[Ares]]). %%*While all human languages are based on the same Sustainment Language (I should come up with a cool name for that - Susalgian (SUHS-al-JIAHN) “sustainment English” (as algin/elgin is my weird slang word for English) or something).*%% Early [[Methuselan|Methuselans]] recorded a few dozen languages, but most were lost in part or entirely in the ages that followed. Three primary languages are preserved better than the rest. [[Ur-Deutsch]], [[Latium]], and [[Hellan]]. The first being the most well understood. The latter two are less well known and mainly used as roots for creating new words and slang. The [[Isylorian Order]] recognizes ur-Deutsch and Latium as official languages for the Stonespeaker records. The Stonespeakers themselves keep all three languages alive. Despite their attempts to preserve their original forms, variations have occurred over the millennia. Ur-Deutsch, in particular, is also used as the official bureaucratic language of [[Northern Bloc]], though most of the citizenry are not fluent. %%~~Scraps of other languages remain, however their meaning is lost. Speaking formally allows one to be understood anywhere in the [[Core Worlds]].
