#Notes >[!note] >Internal/narrative note, if you're curious, you can go through this. While the various superpowers on [[Ares]] (including [[TASCOM]] and corporate forces) may implement slightly different configurations, they all share a similar basic organizational structure. --- ## **Legion or Field Army** The largest group assets that can be deployed as a coherent force. Ranging from 20,000 to 50,000 personnel, including all combat and support units. At this scale, much of the combat personnel will be transported in-theater by a government’s own spacecraft/vehicles. Much of the support and logistics will be moved by contracted civilian agencies. The last time a legion strength force was in play was during the [[Consolidation Wars]]. Conflicts in the years hence have rarely seen more than a brigade strength deployment. Many of which were in support of proxy wars between local forces. --- ## **Corps** The corps are a regional garrison. Usually headquartered at one major facility, with multiple units stationed at other bases nearby. On primary colony worlds, this will likely be the largest unit on the planet. Corps are made of up of 2 or more divisions, comprising over 20,000 personnel. Other branches: Aerospace and surface navy - This would consist of several aerospace forces/fleets. --- ## **Division** A division is a fully self sufficient combat organization, comprising multiple brigades and 10,000 or more personnel. Divisions are only deployed as a whole during major conflicts. More often, their individual brigades will be rotated through conflict zones based on their individual readiness level. Other branches: Aerospace and surface navy - This is the equivalent of a single aerospace force or fleet. Both contain multiple regiments/task forces. --- ## **Brigade (aka Regiment)** Brigades are made up of several battalions and are often more specialized. Focusing on one specific unit type. Be that it infantry, aviation, armor, artillery, etc. Each brigade will have its own support battalions depending on the needs of the overall unit. They consist of 2000 or more personnel. Note: The term regiment is used by both the aerospace force and special operations units. The [[Viltorian Combine]] exclusively uses regiment instead of brigade. Other branches: Aerospace - A regiment of air/aerospace craft comprises as many as 100 craft. Including combat and support. Space and surface navy - This is known as a task force. A smaller section of the fleet which is designated for specific mission roles. Often consisting of 10 or more semi-self sufficient vessels. --- ## **Battalion** A battalion is a unit focused on its specific mission. Be that direct combat, support, logistics or administration. They are made up of 100 or more personnel. Other branches: Aerospace - This level is known as a group. It includes 20 or more combat craft and additional support craft and equipment. Space and surface navy - A strike group of 3 or more vessels are designated for specific threats, and limited engagements without other support vessels. --- ## **Company** Companies comprise several platoons and are further specialized by mission type. Typically consisting of 60 or more personnel. Other branches: Aerospace - This is a squadron, comprising 10 or more craft and support personnel. Space and surface navy - There is no specific designation for this level of unit. Often consisting of a single or pair of vessels. These are used for interdiction and observation for larger group actions. However, a single or small group of naval vessels may carry a company of marines. --- ## **Platoon** Platoons are not their own unit, but rather a subdivision of a company. The size of a platoon varies greatly by organizational type. They can be as small as 20 personnel or as many as 60. --- ## **Squad** A squad is the smallest unit in the regular army. They comprise 10 or less personnel, who work directly together to achieve specific tasks. Other branches: Aerospace - A pair or small group of craft is known as a flight. Individual flights are tasked with specific mission objectives. Be that direct combat, reconnaissance, or support for other flights. This is not a specific unit type, but rather a part of a squadron. --- ### **Fireteam** A fireteam is a specialized form of a squad only found in combat units. They often have a variety of skills and equipment to meet varied objectives a more generalized unit wouldn’t be suited for. The [[NOMAD]] teams (Groups 1-3) are fireteams intended for reconnaissance, force multiplication and counterterrorism.
