This was the first world visited by explorers from [[Ares]] in 552 PC. Despite its dry climate and relatively small amount of water, it is exceptionally mineral rich. This made it an ideal staging ground for further expansion. The population that landed here at the end of [[The Collapse]] had struggled to rebuild on their own. They existed as a pre-industrial society, who welcomed assistance from off world. Early terraforming efforts involved dropping comets into the southern ocean and melting the ice caps. This doubled the amount of liquid water on the planet and raised global temperatures by 12º C. Most cities are pleasant and temperate, but the massive amount of workers who moved here to mine and build spacecraft led to hundreds of thousands of arcologies being built. So several cities are naught but “forests” of massive structures. Taking advantage of Klement’s lower gravity and extensive manufacturing facilities, the planet is one of two planets with [[Space Elevator|Space Elevators]] in the [[Core Worlds]], built by TASCOM IN 2202 PC - 502 NDZ (Site 1). An orbital ring was under construction, with plans for 3 additional space elevators along the equator. Despite the events of the [[Holoscaral Outbreak]], work continued on these projects. The ring was completed in 2396 PC - 596 NDZ, with an additional tether attached in 2406 PC - 606 NDZ (Site 2). Site 3 and 4 are still under construction, but have been delayed. They are projected to be operational in the next 20 years (~2450 PC - ~650 NDZ).
