Without any knowledge of [[Earth]], it's only known that similar animals existed across all of the [[Human Space|Anthropic Span]] in the past. [[Ares]] once had a variety of assumed native species. They were not terribly unlike species from Earth, but had 6 legs and most of the large mammal-like creatures were covered in a scale-like skin, with a mix of fur or feather-like hair. Some time after humanity's return to the stars, they brought many animals back to the [[Core Worlds]]. The majority of these were from former human colonies, which were populated with more recognizable variants of Earth-like animals. By the [[Dark Centuries]], almost all of the native species of Ares and the other Core Worlds had been out competed with the imported species and went extinct. Modern animals are similar to what was originally taken from Earth at some point in the past.
