# Details per Space Series
## 8 tips for a more playful kid bedroom rendering
A kid bedroom is a specific place and even though we want it to feel playful, there's still a fine line between an organized and well composed untidiness and a complete mess.
### Activity items
Depending on the type of kid you're imagining the space for (girl, boy, newborn, preschool, etc.), you'll have to insert different kind of items, but mostly toys and the likes.
Simple stuffed animals, blackboard with childish drawings on it, colouring pens, legos, train tracks, all the way to a laptop (preferably tweaked with some stickers).
The idea is to show the range of activities that can take place in the bedroom, which is actually quite a lot compared to a simple bedroom for grownups where we mainly sleep. A kid bedroom is first and foresmost a playground and has to be depicted as such. Colourwise, you can go a little bit crazier than you would in any other room, but still try to keep it balanced. Using more saturated colors in this sort of environment won't hurt as long as the rest of the image is toned down.
Again though, keep in mind the composition of your image when placing items, even if the idea is to clutter the ground with stuffed animals and barbie dolls. I think there is a sweet spot to find between an overly tidy room that feel unpersonal, and a room rendered straight after a hurricane.

### Cloth
For a kid bedroom, cloth items can really bring nice details in your image. You can play around with bold patterns on rugs, as well as overly big knitted plaids, plenty of cushions to create a reading area, or a blanket castle etc.
The cool thing is that you can have a really simple and tidy interior, and bring messiness in the image with simple layout, and therefore finding this sweet spot for a balanced and legible image.
Cloth items for kids are also a good opportunity to add some customization. Whether it's large initials embroided on a pillowcase or some patched up blanket.

### Fashion items
Even though the fashion for children is less vast than it is for their parents, you can still play around with the type of garments that surround childhood.
Small hoodie, the usual pair of plastic boots for rainy days, onesies, a tutu for a young ballerina, etc. In the same way than mentioned for cloth, it can be interesting to customize items with patches, homemade embroidery, etc.
All these small items can bring a touch of colour that could be missing in your rendering, as well as give some back story to the children who will be using the space, or the clients/parents.

### Design items
Decorations and small design items are a common feature in kids bedroom. One thing that you have to keep in mind is the idea of "softness". Materialwise, you don't want anything that you put in your rendering, to appear hard, and potentially harming.
First you'll have soft and diffuse lighting (curtains), but you also want your objects to react properly to your lighting, hence why you'll likely use soft materials like wood, cloth, fabric rather than hard plastic or metal surfaces.
Last but not least, you might want to rely more on homemade items rather than actual manufactured goods which usually works better for older people spaces.

### Foliage
Plants are less present than in other rooms of the house, but they can still bring some nice details in an kid bedroom environment, especially if you put them in playful pastel pots or wicker basket.

### Lighting
One special lighting fixture that you can find in a child bedroom are night-lights. They can induce really interesting lighting effects in your image as well as clearly selling the softness and playfulness you're looking for when depicting a kid bedroom.
The only thing to be careful with is to properly adjust the overall lighting of the image. You don't want your image to rely solely on the light of your night-light, otherwise it'll look way to dark. As you can see on the image with the bear holding the moon, you can suggest the night-light even during a day-time image.

### Misc furnishings
There are not many specifics furnishings for a kid bedroom except your usual radiators, plinths, wires, light switch, etc. One thing that you can put if you have a discreet model is some sort of baby phone somewhere on a bedside table for example, or some playful clockradio.

### Context
A kid bedroom will be less central than a living room for example, still it can be interesting to show how it connects to the rest of the house (is it a corridor or is it straight into another room?), or show its connection to the outside if it is interesting (is there a balcony? a nice view? etc).
