# Location
We are located at [2 St Johns Avenue, New Town](https://maps.app.goo.gl/WpV2uJueEirrNmRL9), at the corner of New Town roads. This is between the Ogilvie campus of the Hobart City High school and the Bowls Club and Netball courts on New Town Road.
The building is a very early [Tasmanian heritage building](Our%20Building%20—%20History.md), one of a pair of gatehouses either side of the Avenue.
# Getting there
## Bus
Access by bus is easy — there are bus stops very close on New Town Road, near Tower Road. Buses on this route are very frequent.
## Cycle
Access from the InterCity Cycleway is also easy. Leave the Cycleway at the bottom of Bromley Street beside the New Town campus of the Hobart City High School. Then come up Bromley Street to New Town Road and across the street.
## Motor vehicle
- Motor Cycles may park on the premises. If you do so, please allow room for cars to park as well. There’s plenty of space beside the main driveway.
- Cars may also park on our premises, but please note:
- There’s only room for about three vehicles.
- Four cars can fit if a small car parks against the retaining wall between the steps and the fence.
- Please be polite to others if you are the first person into the car park, and park well up toward the Bowling Club fence.
- If you are the last to leave, please hook the chain back on the gatepost.
- Parking is also available in most of St Johns Avenue and on New Town Road.
- This can get crowded when there are other events in the area, in particular when the sports grounds are busy at weekends.
- ***Some*** of the parking area between the Bowls Club and the Avenue is also available — the row closest to the Avenue.
- ***Do Not*** park in the Bowls Club car park up against the club fence. That is private to the Club.
- Please don’t abuse this — it behoves us to be good neighbours as we share a boundary on two sides.
- Similarly, some of the area opposite the Space, behind the buildings that front onto New Town Road is ***private***.
- See the [parking map below ](#Parking%20map) for details.
# Getting in
## Entrances
Our building has two entrances, but we normally only use one — the “Back” door, ie the one which faces the driveway. This one has electronic control so that members can use their RFID tags to enter and disarm the premises.
The “Front” door — the one with the stone portico that opens onto the footpath — remains functional (and even has a doorbell) but is primarily now only an emergency exit.
## Visitors
On [Visitors nights — Thursday evenings](Hackerspace%20Wiki.md#Visitors%20nights%20—%20Thursday%20evenings), you can come to the back door and ring the doorbell. Someone will come to the door and sign you in.
## Members
Members may have 24/7 access to the Space, using an RFID tag. Each tag is unique to that member. Swiping the tag on the tag reader beside the back door allows the door to be pushed open and disables the security on the premises.
- Note that sometimes you have to push the door quite hard.
- When you use the Space other than on Visitors Night, if you are the last to leave, please re-enable the security system by pressing the big red button beside the door.
