## Overview
Arcane Arts is the discipline of sensing, shaping, and releasing arcane power. Your ability to **learn** and **cast** Arcane spells is tied to **Intellect** and your **Arcane Arts rank**.
### Starting Spell Formulas
When you first become a Mage, choose a number of Arcane spells equal to **⌊Intellect ÷ 2⌋ + 2**.
## Actions & Uses
- **Read Magic** — You can read most arcane scripts. If obscured or encoded, make an **Arcane Arts (Intellect)** check vs a **Moderate** challenge to decipher.
- **Identify Arcana** — Analyze an active effect, circle, or glyph; on success, learn school, potency, and hazards.
- **Counter/Unravel** — Contest a hostile Arcane effect with **Arcane Arts + Power** vs the original roll (Storyteller sets timing/cost).
- **Ritual Support** — Add +1d10 as an assist die to allied Arcane rituals on a success.
