# **The History of the Grugach-Olve**
The Grey Elves are the "High Nobility" of the elven race, claiming a direct and unbroken lineage to the first celestial servants of Corellon Larethian. Their history is a chronicle of grand isolation. While the High Elves (Olve) fought alongside humans against Vecna, the Grey Elves withdrew into mountain-ringed sanctuaries, preserved by powerful illusions and ancient wards.
In 576 CY, the Grey Elves are the primary architects of **Celene’s Isolationism**. They view the rising tide of Iuz and the Horned Society not as a threat to be fought with steel, but as a "human storm" that will eventually blow over. They spend their centuries in pursuit of "The Perfect Thought," studying the deepest mysteries of the multiverse while the world outside their borders burns.

They are **shorter and slighter than even the High Elves (avg. 4’10” to 5’6”)**, possessing a frame that appears almost too fragile for the physical world. Their skin is **pale as polished marble or alabaster**, and they never tan. Their hair is their most famous feature: **shimmering silver, platinum blonde, or pale white**, often worn in elaborate braids or flowing like silk.

They find the browns and greens of their Wood Elf cousins "primitive" and the pastels of the High Elves "gaudy." A Grey Elf is rarely seen without a **circlet or jewelry of mithral and star-gems**.

### **Playing a Grey Elf (Grugach-Olve)**
##### **The Grey Elf Mindset**
- **The Ancient Scholar:** You don't just know history; you feel it. When a human mentions a "hundred-year-old kingdom," you find it hard not to laugh at such a "temporary arrangement."
- **Magical Perfectionist:** Every spell you cast is a performance. If your somatic components aren't perfectly aligned with the stars, you feel a deep sense of shame.
- **Distant Ally:** You are with the party because their quest intersects with a deeper, more important elven prophecy—not because you've developed a "friendship" with the mud-dwellers.

##### **Grey Elf (Grugach-Olve) Traits**
_These traits are added to your Base Elf statistics._
- **Ability Score Increase.** Your **Intelligence** score increases by 2, however, your **Strength** decreases by 2 (reflecting your extreme physical frailty and focus on the mind).
- **Superior Darkvision.** Your darkvision has a radius of **90 feet**.
- **Arcane Eminence.** You know one additional cantrip from the **Wizard spell list** (Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for it). Once per long rest, when you cast a spell using a spell slot, you may add your Intelligence modifier (minimum 1) to one damage or healing roll of that spell.
- **Olven High Lore.** You gain proficiency in **Arcana** and **History**. Your proficiency bonus is **doubled** for any check made to identify ancient elven artifacts or ruins.
- **Grey Elf Heritage.** Choose one specialized path:
- **Sage of Enstad:** You are a master of diplomacy and law. You gain proficiency in **Insight**. You have Advantage on saving throws against being Charmed or magically compelled to tell a lie.
- **Spindrift Navigator:** You are a master of the hidden seas. You gain proficiency with **Navigator’s Tools** and **Vehicles (Water)**. You can cast _Fog Cloud_ once per long rest without a spell slot.
- **Arch-Mage’s Apprentice:** You know **two** cantrips from the Wizard spell list instead of one. Additionally, you can read and write **Celestial** and **Old Suloise**.
