Welcome to Expanding Hyrule, a community dedicated to archiving "Original Legends" within the Legend of Zelda fandom. Original Legends is the community voted tag for Legend of Zelda fanworks that center original Links, Zeldas, Ganons, and eras of Hyrule. Our archive is cross-medium and platform, with no restrictions on experience. If you've made an Original Legends work, please [[Contact]] us so we can add it to the archive. Expanding Hyrule started September 1st, 2024 when [[amelias-hart]] created our Discord and opened it to the public as a space to share and discuss Original Legends. Then we launched our blog on Tumblr on September 13th, 2024 to connect and share the stories we were compiling within our community. On December 2nd, 2025, we launched this wiki to further coordinate and connect with creators within our fandom. You may have also seen tags like Zelda AU or OC Zelda to represent this same idea as Original Legends. The idea behind our tag is to have something more easily standardized, much like Links Meet. Tags like OC Link or LOZ AU all have the potential to be flipped and reversed. Not to mention there's a wide variety of options already! This means that, due to how tags work, unless there is a standard tag, people have to follow dozens of tags in order to find creators making in this space. It's our mission to centralizing these searches. To promote our project, we run community oriented [[Challenges & Projects]] to bring together readers and creators alike and get the Original Legends tags in front of more people.
