You can engage with EDy in two ways: 1. **Live Chat with EDy** – EDy the Guide is an AI-powered conversational assistant with three unique modes: - **Guide Mode** – Helps you explore your aches and challenges as part of a larger system - **Teacher Mode** – Explains the concepts behind the Essential Dynamics model - **Pathfinder Mode** – Helps you work through a specific challenge and identify viable options _You can change modes anytime by saying “Switch to Teacher Mode” or “Pathfinder Mode.”_ 2. **Interactive Tools** – EDy also includes specialized, forms-based tools that help you explore Essential Dynamics in focused ways. --- ## How to Use EDy the Guide [EDy the Guide](https://studio.pickaxe.co/STUDIOKU8SO6293312LE4/KEHD6EQWSW) operates in a classic chat format. Just type: > “Switch to Teacher Mode” > “Go into Pathfinder Mode” To end a session, just say **“bye”** and EDy will wrap up the conversation and remind you how to reach a live guide if you’d like. --- ## A Few Things to Know - EDy uses large language models like ChatGPT. He may occasionally make mistakes, misunderstand questions, or repeat himself. Rephrase or restart if needed. - You can paste case studies, reports, or tool results into the chat for deeper exploration. - EDy supports file uploads. - Conversations are not shared with other users and are not used to train the model—but may be reviewed by the Essential Dynamics team during beta testing. EDy is your virtual guide to the world of Essential Dynamics. Essential Dynamic helps leaders design, build and operate organizations with system flow. Essential Dynamics is very simple but also very deep. We find that highly interactive conversations are a great way to learn to apply Essential Dynamics. The main way to connect is to choose EDy the Guide. EDy operates with the classic chat format. You tell EDy what you are interested in, EDy responds, you chat back, and it goes on from there. EDy the Guide has three modes. EDy always starts out in Guide mode, with the intention of using your aches and challenges to start to see your situation as a system. If you want to explore the concepts of Essential Dynamics, ask for Teacher mode. And if you want EDy to help you work through a specific problem and find a solution, ask for Pathfinder mode. Use EDy as a trusted guide, ideally to help get your own thinking straight, with the Essential Dynamics framework there to nudge you. You can explore the framework directly but we find having a use case in mind is very helpful in developing understanding quickly. Note that EDy is still in development. Please keep these points in mind: - Since EDy uses large language models like ChatGPT it is possible that he will make mistakes, hallucinate, or not understand your question. Please verify any insights with outside sources. - Your conversation cannot be seen by other users and is not used to train the AI, but it can be visible to the Essential Dynamics team for development purposes, so please do not disclose proprietary or sensitive personal information to EDy. If you need to, you can ask questions "for a friend" or save your sensitive stuff for the final version, which will be fully privacy compliant. - EDy is not qualified to and is not offering professional advice. In addition to chatting with EDy, there are a few forms-based applications that give you a quick, structured view into Essential Dynamics. - The Analyzer Tool and the Analyzer Lite Tool take case studies, business stories, literary works, films, and even children's books and analyze the situation+ using Essential Dynamics. The Lite tool is a guick look and the Analyzer tool is very in-depth. You don't need to give EDy much to get started on this. You'll learn a lot about both the situation and Essential Dynamics after a few runs. If you're stuck try prompts like the "The Matrix", "Moana", "Hamlet" or "Shackleton and Endurance". - The Diagnoser tool is a self-assessment tool to reflect on the degree to which the user tends to think at the system level. Take your time and check it out and let us know what you think. - The Model Comparison tool can be used to compare various business, academic and philosophical thinking frameworks to Essential Dynamics and each other. In each case the unique offerings of each framework are highlighted and any synergistic points are noted. Our goals here are to bring the best of all models into Essential Dynamics, to contribute to useful models where possible and to increase the collective understanding of how to achieve better flow. For more information you can check out the [Essential Dynamics Wiki](https://publish.obsidian.md/essentialdynamics/_Essential+Dynamics+Wiki/0.+Index/Essential+Dynamics+Wiki) or contact an Unconstrained Guide. Or get back with EDy and ask for teacher mode. Tips on working with the chat? - If EDy repeats its response or seems to misunderstand your question, please reword and try again. - You can paste reports, case studies, or results from EDy form intereactions into the chat box. Please provide any feedback you have to [email protected]. Thanks!
