# The Hero's Journey The hero's journey is a pattern identified by Joseph Campbell in his study of religious literature and comparative mythology. Under this pattern a hero leaves normal life, heads out on an adventure, suffers trials, gains ultimate victory and returns home changed. This pattern is consistent across many traditions. The concept of the [[Quest]] in [[Essential Dynamics]] is in part, based on the idea of the hero's journey. >A hero ventures forth from the world of common day into a region of supernatural wonder: fabulous forces are there encountered and a decisive victory is won: the hero comes back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boons on his fellow man. > >Joseph Campbell ![[The Hero's Journey - Graphics_image_1.png]] # Summarized Steps of the Hero's Journey 1.
