![[Barovia.webp]] ![[Village of Barovia map.webp]] Tall shapes loom out of the dense fog that surrounds everything. The muddy ground underfoot gives way to slick, wet cobblestones. The tall shapes become recognizable as village dwellings. The windows of each house stare out from pools of blackness. The village of Barovia is the saddest place in the land, its residents so terrified of Strahd that they rarely venture from their homes. The village lies in the shadow of [[Castle Ravenloft]], buried under fog but still unable to hide from the vampire’s sight. Lying in the shadow of Castle Ravenloft, the village of Barovia is oppressed by fear. The villagers rarely venture from their homes, suspecting their neighbors of wickedness and fearing evils are taking root in the shadows. Their fears are largely justified, as ghosts and vampire spawn haunt the town, and many locals have been consumed by their own callousness or wicked temptations. A rare exception to the village's cold desperation can be found at the local tavern called the Blood on the Vine. Those few who would oppose Strahd's evil congregate here. --- # Points of Interest - [[Church Ruins]] - [[The Graveyard]] - [[Blood on the Vine]] - [[Overgrown Ruins]] - [[The Lost Shrine of St. Ecaterina]] - [[The Laboratorium]] - [[The Forge]] - [[Black Rabbit Barfighters]] - [[Smouldering Ruins of the Librium Arcanum]] --- # History ## 2nd of Yinfyar, 737 BC ![](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/982746942973042718/1060041983407689758/IMG_2731.png?ex=66160c07&is=66039707&hm=a9e80e31cac215cd2b383e46a941d9999d1f27d5afdd5b19910f2acc07e87960&) The recent attack on the Village of Barovia has caused significant damage in the town’s infrastructure. Despite the best efforts of Trellum, Umbrae, Uyut, and Atamos, the Blood on the Vine tavern will be closed for repairs until further notice. Let us take this time to remember those lost in the attack. Giant insects. While individually weak, several are a menace, dozens are an infestation. Locals have begun calling them slivers, as they seem slivers of a whole. When two come together, they seem to boost one anther, making the entire swarm stronger. We need a group of brave adventurers to whole out the nest before the swarm the entirety of Barovia. The party of Ro Telt, Brawlima, Kadence, Severin, Ammander, and Wither fought their way from the surface deep into the heart of a sliver colony, facing different variations of slivers. Acid, eyestalk, spitting, armored, winged and more. Their battle culminates in the chamber of the sliver queen herself where the extermination of the colony is finally accomplished, or is it? **Adventure Link:** https://enter-ravenloft.github.io/adventure-archives/2024-03-07__infestation.html ## 2nd of Prylla, 738 BC 5 newcomers to Barovia were invited to dinner. Supposedly the sixth guest is Lord Strahd von Zarovich but he is running late. The wait staff begin serving dishes. As time goes on things get stranger and stranger as the dishes hunt of danger and the wait staff seem creepy. One of the adventures identify the wait staff as undead in disguise. After fighting and defeating the wait staff Lord Strahd finally shows up, annoyed that his time is wasted by the organizer of this event, the lead waiter Jacques. He promises Jacques a cruel punishment and mostly brushes off the new comers to this land. When one engages with him he invites her to his castle. **Adventure Link:** https://enter-ravenloft.github.io/adventure-archives/2024-04-02__welcome_to_barovia.html
