The standard unit of clan operation; Squads typically consist of three to ten female members sometimes accompanied by a single male member who is essentially wed to the squad theough an elaborate [[Bonding Ceremony]]. These highly cohesive groups are self-formed from close friends with complementary skill-sets who choose to operate together within the clan's mission-based task system; they are typically led by the eldest and most experienced member of the group who will be declared "squad leader". Missions are collected via the [[Notice Boards]] which are located in the clan's common area on the first floor of the rest, adjacent to the bathing area and storage bay. [[Missions]] are posted via color-coded cards which contain relevant information as to which tasks and resources are needed by the clan that day; squads collect these cards from the notice boards in the mornings and will bring them to the quartermaster's station who will outfit them with the nessisary equipment for completing the aforementioned task, and will then typically spend all day deployed in the field filling out the checklist as it appears on the card. Upon completion, a squad returns to the clan with their haul or evidence of task completion and will bring said items back to whomever posted the notice; the poster will then stamp the squads card with their seal and graciously recieve their bounty, at which point the squad may then take their stamped card to the clan treasury for their reward. Rewards are typically recieved as "work credits" which can be exchanged for various clan services such as extra rations, treats, or special items from the quartermaster. Sometimes, such as completing a task for a craftsman; a special hand-made item will be held by the treasury as the reward for the completed task. Squads typically do everything together, from eating and sleeping, to grooming and bathing; it is rare to see a squad member without their teammates nearby, as most squads also function as a closely bonded polycule.
