#### Why do I live in Boulder Colorado USA? When I was 10 years old in 1995, I moved here with my parents from the Bay Area. But my mom moved here as a child in the 1950s. My grandmother and grandfather moved to Colorado from the midwest, originally to Denver and then to Boulder. Both my grandparents on my mom's side grew up in the midwest, she in Minnesota and he in Michigan. My grandparents on my dad's side were also in the midwest until they moved to California after World War 2. So part of why I live in Boulder is that general trend of people going west after world war 2. They chose to live here, but I live here because I feel some need (maybe part of my Vow?) to live close to my family. This comes from a sense of needing to take care of them. I moved back here in 2013 when my dad was diagnosed with Cancer. Before that I was living in the bay area, and I kind of loved it there. #### Am I at all involved in local politics? #### What do I love about Boulder? - Contact Improvisation scene is good - The mountains are beautiful - The historical trail of people who have come through here because of Naropa in the 1970s #### What do I loathe about Boulder? - I have to drive everywhere - like I have to drive to my office in Westminster... #### What do I meh about Boulder? - I don't relate to a lot of the people who choose to live here (microbreweries, outdoor enthusiasts) - there aren't as many artists or intellectuals or weirdos as there were when I lived in the Bay, so the cultural scene feels a bit bland - I feel a deep sense of familiarity with Boulder, but I don't feel particularly connected to it as a place. #### What can I do to love living here more? inspired by [Why Did I Move to New Zealand](https://sive.rs/nz0) by Derek Sivers
