# 20231119 ☕️ Sunday Morning Coffee Notes Three `random notes` from my Obsidian vault, today's `music` selection from MailTape, and a `photo` from the past week from my phone. --- ## 📸 "Crescent City Books" ![[Crescent City Books.jpg]] #photo #bookstores #nola When traveling, I usually have several used book shops to check out. In New Orleans last week, while at the annual [AMIA conference](https://s4.goeshow.com/amia/annual/2023/schedule_at_a_glance.cfm), this is one of the two shops I visited. I picked up a book from each (both photography). I would love to have an air freshener that smells like used book stores. --- ## ![[Open random note.png]] Three notes from the Random Note core plugin. This is how I am dipping my toe into [Obsidian Publish](https://publish.obsidian.md) by adding at least 3 notes per week from my library of 6600+ notes. --- ## 🎲 [[20210728-3M21-001|First Page of a Notebook]] - 3M21 (2021) This one is the first page of a typical #notebook. I've written before about some of my notebook-writing process, including [[20230702 ☕️ Sunday Morning Coffee Notes#🎲 q-nov28|naming conventions]], the [[20230820 ☕️ Sunday Morning Coffee Notes#🎲 19870113 BN87-001 Dream Page from a Dream Notebook (1987)|architecture]] of a notebook, my #DOY or [[20230723 ☕️ Sunday Morning Coffee Notes#🎲 q-jan19 Jan19 (0119)|Day-of-Year]] notes, and my [[20230813 ☕️ Sunday Morning Coffee Notes#🎲 q-FG79 Notebook (1979)|oldest notebook]]. You can also see my [[Notes about organizing Notebooks]] for more details. ![[3M21-001.png|256]] So this note includes a photo of my #3M21 notebook, inside cover and page 001. I don't often take pictures of pages, but did here so one can see the analog and digital versions of the page. You can see it has 161 pages, and covers not quite a 3-month period. Now, I create 3-5 notebooks per year. Not really a diary, and not really a daybook. By `daybook`, I am referring to, for example, the [[Book1961?.Newhall.The Daybooks of Edward Weston. I. Mexico|Daybooks]] that photographer, Edward Weston, wrote. These notebooks are at the core of my **Memex Bell Project**, more about that in the [[20230813 ☕️ Sunday Morning Coffee Notes#📸 "Memex Bell Time"|0813]] and [[20230917 ☕️ Sunday Morning Coffee Notes#UPDATE on the Memex Bell Project|0917]] _Coffee Notes_. --- ## 🎲 [[20150226 HB1010-SB0586 Parity Compliance - SRD Testimony|2015 Maryland Bill Requiring Insurers to Report on MH/SUD Parity Compliance]] Some brief notes taken while listening to the 2015 hearing on HB1010/SB0586. This would have required payers to report to the Insurance Commissioner their parity compliance activity. Payers opposed, advocates supported. My [Senate testimony](https://mgahouse.maryland.gov/mga/play/a1f578b6f8ba49b0a307311ddf2bb3781d?catalog/03e481c7-8a42-4438-a7da-93ff74bdaa4c&playfrom=1131681) is at 1:14:45, and my [House testimony](https://mgahouse.maryland.gov/mga/play/81c15296c3ef4f7bb842e961364cead71d?catalog/03e481c7-8a42-4438-a7da-93ff74bdaa4c&playfrom=6204571) is at 2:21:05. A later version of this bill did pass in 2020 -- the **Parity Compliance and Data Reporting** bill (SB334/HB455). Payers continue to be mostly noncompliant with parity in the absence of painful consequences. I found my [[20150226.HB1010.parity.SRD testimony.pdf|written testimony]] for the House bill hearing. As you can see, I usually rewrite some of my testimony while listening to other people's public comments, so that I can respond to issues raised in real-time, while dropping other points that have already been adequately addressed. --- ## 🎲 [[20200625.1655 DSU - Dataviz Series - Ch7 Dashboards|Data Science Univ on Dashboards]] (2020) These are notes I took from a talk given by [[Karen Hodge]] as part of a #dataviz series, this one about web-based data Dashboards. Some good tips here. --- ## ![[logo.mailtape.png|64]] #540 - [NxQuantize](https://www.mailta.pe/540/nxquantize/) #mailtape/vibrant This is a fresh Mailtape today from French artist `NxQuantize`. The first couple were not my bag, but the other selections were welcome. --- [[20231112 ☕️ Sunday Morning Coffee Notes|Prior]] <> [[20231126 ☕️ Sunday Morning Coffee Notes|Next]] [[20230625 Thinking about ☕️ Sunday Morning Coffee Notes|About coffee notes]] [[Home#Contact|Contact me]]
