Sense-of-truth is an [anthropological perspective](http://ranprieur.com/readings/preconquest.html) of how shared ideas evolve within a specific cultural framework. "Truth" is different from "sense-of-truth," though they can be aligned. A sense-of-truth emerges at the intersection of an emotional, intellectual, and social [[ecology]]. It is the product of a particular cultural framework.
Manipulating someone's sense-of-truth is a classic tactic in psychological abuse, commonly called gaslighting. Developing the innate ability to trust one's perceptions is critical to maintaining an inward sense-of-truth. However, this internal compass must also be swung against a social consensus. Trusted confidantes are therefore integral to [[the skillfulness of being human]].
