Deep ecology is a philosophical movement founded Arne Næss. It is premised on the essential and inherent dignity of nature, and consequently all that exists. A deep ecological approach to living and problem-solving investigates how a living being or [[Community]] is directing its own evolution, then responds to that direction in a manner that augments its development. Deep ecology is antithetical to [[Culture of Supremacy|cultures of supremacy]]. It recognizes that value emerges from differences, and that by elevating a class of people, species, or ideology above another, diversity is inhibited.
