**Nephthys**, (pronounced: _NEF-thiss_) known as **Nesharia** in [Thay](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Thay "Thay") and as **Neselthia** in [Unther](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Unther "Unther"), was a vain but caring member of the [Mulhorandi pantheon](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Mulhorandi_pantheon "Mulhorandi pantheon"). She was [Mulhorand](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Mulhorand "Mulhorand")'s [goddess](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/God "God") of the dead, protecting both graves and the riches found therein.

Nephthys typically appeared as a [Mulan](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Mulan "Mulan") woman in royal dress. She often wore numerous pieces of [gold](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Gold "Gold") jewelry as well.
### Manifestations
Nephthys' will was sometimes communicated through [golems](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Golem "Golem") or hoarding animals, such as [rats](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Rat "Rat"). The face of Nephthys might appear to forces hostile to her, and a golden mist might appear to ward off grave robbers. A single gold coin might lead to great treasure, and an individual who pleased the Guardian of Wealth and Commerce might experience a shower of such coins.

Nephthys could stun enemies with her mere presence, and kill with a simple gaze. She had the ability to raise the [undead](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Undead "Undead") into her service, and could increase wealth with a touch of her hand.

Nephthys was the daughter of [Geb](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Geb "Geb") and Nut. She was the twin sister of Isis and was once married to Seth, who she left after his murder of Osiris.
Nephthys had few true allies. [Waukeen](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Waukeen "Waukeen") closely monitored the growth of the church of the Devoted Lady.
Nephthys openly opposed [Mask](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Mask "Mask") and the [Red Wizards of Thay](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Red_Wizards_of_Thay "Red Wizards of Thay").
## Worshipers
Nephthys urged her followers to accumulate wealth, but had little patience for true greed. Worship of the Devoted Lady was most common among nobles and housewives

The clergy of the church of Nephthys was composed entirely of women of Mulan descent. These [priestesses](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Cleric "Cleric") must be married or widowed.
Clerics of Nephythis administered the economy of [Mulhorand](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Mulhorand "Mulhorand"), as well as served in the funeral preparations of those in the upper classes.
emples dedicated to Nephthys were defensible structures designed to display great wealth. These buildings often served as banks for the Mulhorandi people. The center of the church of Nephthys was the [Vault of Golden Commerce](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Vault_of_Golden_Commerce "Vault of Golden Commerce"), located in the city of [Neldorild](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Neldorild "Neldorild").
The church of Nephthys had spread throughout Unther, and had even begun to push beyond this border.
Clerics of Nephthys usually wore white [linen](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Linen "Linen") skirts and [robes](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Robe "Robe") or linen dresses. They wore wigs on their shaved heads as well as [sandals](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Sandal "Sandal"). Three blue circles were painted on a priestess' forehead, a mark of her divine calling.
When preparing themselves for combat, the clergy of Nephthys selected the most expensive equipment they could afford.
Clerics of Nephthys prayed for spells at noon.

Nephthys assisted [Isis](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Isis "Isis") in resurrecting [Osiris](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Osiris "Osiris"), who had been murdered by [Set](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Set "Set").
During the [Second Sundering](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Second_Sundering "Second Sundering"), Nephthys and other deities from the pantheon returned in the form of [demigods](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Demigod "Demigod") and led the [Mulhorandi](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Mulhorand "Mulhorand") uprising against the [Imaskari](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Imaskari "Imaskari"), in a manner similar to how the [Chosen](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Chosen "Chosen") manifested in other regions. As of [1489 DR](https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/1489_DR "1489 DR"), Mulhorand was led by the returned pantheon, who temporarily set their differences aside for the good of the Mulhorandi people.
