I encourage you to [reply to this thread](https://bsky.app/profile/debbieohi.com/post/3lahssrpntk24) so others can see. ## Use alt-text when posting images See [[Alt text - Why It's Important]]. ## Posting Images on Bluesky Bluesky currently allows users upload: - up to four (4) images per post - max 1 MB per image. ## Posting Video on Bluesky Here's the [official announcement from Bluesky](https://bsky.social/about/blog/09-11-2024-video) about sharing video on Bluesky, and restrictions. *Excerpt:* - Each post can contain one video. - Video can be up to 3 minutes long, max 100 MB per video file. - Bluesky currently supports .mp4, .mpeg, .webm, and .mov video files. - By default, videos will auto-play. You can turn off auto-play in [[b. Settings|settings]]. You can attach subtitles to your video. I don't know how to do this yet; if I can figure out an easy way to do it and to explain, I'll add the info to this page. > [!NOTE] This is NOT an official Bluesky resource! > Be aware that this is a living vault, very much a work-in-progress. It is NOT meant to be a 100% accurate and finished resource. Please note that these tips are just based on my own experience. What works for me may not work for you. Feel free to send me feedback via [[Contact Debbie]] ## If you're posting an image that you did NOT create yourself... If the image you're sharing (whether it's a photo or art) was NOT taken or created by you, please ask yourself: - Does the image include creator/photographer credit? If not, find out the original source. - If the image contains no credit to the original source, think hard before sharing it. Many artists (including myself) object to their art being shared without credit. Even if you include credit in the text of your post, there's nothing to prevent someone from scooping just the image and sharing it elsewhere. Also, if your image happens to be AI-generated, [you may get a label](https://bsky.app/profile/aimod.social). - If you saw the original image posted on Bluesky, don't just scoop the image and share on your own feed - share the creator's post instead. You can always quote-post and add your own comment. ("Check out this amazing photo taken by @xxx!" etc) ## Posting Art on Bluesky As on other social media, I highly recommend making sure your image includes some kind of identifying info, just in case it's scooped and shared elsewhere (innocently or maliciously). If you are sharing someone else's art (including comics), make sure the image contains source info, and also credit the creator in your post. Tag them if they are on Bluesky. If the art you are sharing was created with generative AI, don't try to pretend that you created it on your own. Also be aware that using AI images or AI-modified images may prevent your content from being seen by those using the [AImod Imagery Labeler](https://bsky.app/profile/aimod.social).
