# Lists
Bluesky Lists are another way of helping curate your user experience.
At present, all Lists are public. Fingers crossed that Bluesky adds private Lists! I relied on those heavily on Twitter.
There are two main types of Lists on Bluesky: Curation Lists and Moderation Lists.
## Curation Lists
These are used to group users whose posts you want to follow. I'm most familiar with this type of List.
## Moderation Lists
These lists group users you wish to mute or block.
> [!NOTE] Explainer posts from the Bluesky community
> Browse [this thread](https://bsky.app/profile/debbieohi.com/post/3laccofww6m2j). If you have a useful explainer or post related to LISTS, feel free to reply to the thread with a link.
## How to create your own Bluesky List
See [[How To Create A List on Bluesky]].
## How to check whether you're on any Lists
There doesn't yet seem to be an easy, native way to check.
Under [[Third-party apps and tools]], you'll find [ClearSky](https://clearsky.app/), which enables you to enter a Bluesky account and see which lists they're on. HOWEVER, be aware that there is sometimes a delay (of up to a few minutes?) once you enter your username, so don't be discouraged if nothing comes up right away.
## How to check if a user has created a Curation List
If you go to [my Bluesky profile](https://bsky.app/profile/debbieohi.com), look at the horizontal row of tabs beneath my profile bio. LISTS will be one of the tabs on the far right.

If you click on LISTS, you'll see a list of my Lists (I have a lot). Let's suppose you're most interested in my [List of KidLit/YA Agents](https://bsky.app/profile/debbieohi.com/lists/3kdkghfvva627):

*Alt-text: Screenshot showing a blue icon of the KidLit/YA Agents list, the title of the List, the author of the List (in this case, @debbieohi.com), and a briefly description of the List.*
If you click on any particular Bluesky list, note that the default view is POSTS. This also includes any posts that people on the list make AND any posts that people on the list reply to. Because of the latter, I don't tend to find this view that useful, especially if there are a lot of people in my List. I use [[Feeds]] instead.
Example:

*Alt-text: Screenshot of posts from those on a list called "KidLit/YA Agents." Orange arrows indicate that the Posts tab is the default view, showing posts, and the About tab shows a list of user accounts.*
To see a list of actual user accounts, click the ABOUT tab.

## How can I create a List?
Go to your [User Lists](https://bsky.app/lists) page. On a desktop browser, this is on the left-hand vertical navigation bar. To access this on a mobile device, go to Home (the house icon in the lower left), then click on the 3-line stack in the top left corner.
Here's where I find it when I access Bluesky via my desktop browser:

*Alt-text: Vertical navigation bar that includes the word "LISTS" circled in orange.*
To create a new User List, click on the "+New" button in the top right of your [User Lists page](https://bsky.app/lists).

The form includes fields for "List Name" with a placeholder example "Great Posters" and "Description" with an example "The posters who never miss." A blue "Save" button and a "Cancel" option are at the bottom, with an avatar image placeholder at the top left.*
NOTE: All Lists are currently public.
## How are Moderation Lists different?
To be continued.
