![[Cover-Labelers-v4-800.jpg|400]] # Labelers Labelers are yet another way that Bluesky users can control what they do and don't see on the platform. You can also add [content warning labels to your posts](https://bsky.app/profile/bsky.app/post/3lahjxo2owc2p). ## INDEX [What are Labelers?](https://publish.obsidian.md/debbieohi/bluesky-labels#What+are+Labelers%3F) - [Explanation of Labelers by @Davis](https://publish.obsidian.md/debbieohi/bluesky-labels#Explanation+Of+Labelers+by+%5B%40Davis%5D(https+%2F%2Fbsky.app%2Fprofile%2Fdavis.social)) [Content Warning Labels](https://publish.obsidian.md/debbieohi/bluesky-labels#Content+Warning+Labels) [Profile Labelers](https://publish.obsidian.md/debbieohi/bluesky-labels#Profile+Labelers) - [Labelers I currently subscribe to](https://publish.obsidian.md/debbieohi/bluesky-labels#Labelers+I+currently+subscribe+to) - [Example: AI Imagery Labeler](https://publish.obsidian.md/debbieohi/bluesky-labels#Example+AI+Imagery+Labeler) [Where To find Labelers](https://publish.obsidian.md/debbieohi/bluesky-labels#Where+to+find+Labelers) > [!NOTE] This is NOT an official Bluesky resource! > Be aware that this is a living vault, very much a work-in-progress. [Browse the thread here](https://bsky.app/profile/debbieohi.com/post/3lacvrtnwu32z). Definition of Bluesky Labelers, according to their [community guidelines](https://bsky.social/about/support/community-guidelines): "Labels are a way for the Bluesky community to have control over their experience by contributing content classifications." Here is Bluesky's advance guide on [Labels and Moderation](https://docs.bsky.app/docs/advanced-guides/moderation), but it's geared toward developers, I think (I didn't understand a lot of it, anyway). ## Explanation Of Labelers by [@Davis](https://bsky.app/profile/davis.social) For those who don't know, [@davis.social](https://bsky.app/profile/davis.social) is not only the artist behind the official [Welcome To Bluesky Comic](https://bsky.app/profile/bsky.app/post/3kkqwm7vrlc2p), but also builds feeds and tools for artists, like the \#bsnm feed and the [@aimod.social](https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:bpkpvmwpd3nr2ry4btt55ack) labeler for hiding away AI-images. See Davis's pinned post for more info. *I asked Davis for a layman's explanation of labelers, and he was kind enough to offer this:* "Labels are exactly what they sound like: a way of labeling a post or account. This could be anything from labeling a post for having adult content in it, to someone labeling a post as 'Awesome' because they love it. "Labeler accounts can be created by anyone and can label any posts or users. Labeling can be done manually, through reports from users, from within Bluesky, and they can be done automatically by programs. "In the [AIMod](https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:bpkpvmwpd3nr2ry4btt55ack) case, posts that use AI imagery related hashtags will automatically be labeled by a program that listens for posts. Users can also report to the labeler and there's a team of moderators who review those reports and apply a label if it's appropriate. "It's completely up to users whether they subscribe to a labeler to see the labels that are made. People should also take care in which labelers they support and always be ready to let labeler accounts know if they feel mistakes have been made." ## Content Warning Labels You can add a content warning to your own posts. Here's an example given by Bluesky [in this post](https://bsky.app/profile/bsky.app/post/3lahjxo2owc2p) on November 8, 2024: ![[Example_ContentWarning.jpg]] *Alt-text: Screenshot of a social media post draft interface with a content warning settings option. The draft includes a photo of a dog in the snow, humorously wearing large winter boots and a black hat, with the alt text feature highlighted. Next to it is a pop-up window labeled "Add a content warning," allowing the user to mark the post as "Suggestive," "Nudity," "Porn," or "Graphic Media."* ## Profile Labelers You can find out more about what Labelers you're subscribed to in your Settings > [Moderation](https://bsky.app/moderation), under Advanced. ## Labelers I currently subscribe to [Bluesky Moderation Service](https://bsky.app/profile/moderation.bsky.app) [AI Imagery Labeler](https://bsky.app/profile/aimod.social) [Profile Labeller](https://bsky.app/profile/profile-labels.bossett.social) [Pronouns](https://bsky.app/profile/pronouns.adorable.mom) - Note that this is opt-in. See their profile bio for more info. Here is an example of one labeler I subscribe to: ## Example: AI Imagery Labeler The [AI Imagery Labeler](https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:bpkpvmwpd3nr2ry4btt55ack) was created by [Davis](https://bsky.app/profile/davis.social) and maintained by many volunteers. Those who want to know when someone uses AI art should subscribe to this Labeler. ![[AImod-labeler-choices.jpg]]*Alt-text: Image above shows options for the AI Image Labeler, with toggles of Off, Warn, and Hide for choices like "AI Modified", "AI Avatar or Banner", "User - Occasional AI Imagery", "User - Frequent AI Imagery", and "AI Imagery."* Here's an example of how a post might look, depending on your AImod settings (I blurred out the user profile pic, name, and account): ![[Screenshot_AI-Imagery-Example-1000.jpg]] *Alt-text: Screenshot of post has the image covered up with a light gray horizontal bar with the words "AI Imagery", an option to show the image, and smaller text below the bar that reads "Labeled by AI Imagery Labeler.
