The Horde is an army in [[Tyuet]] under the control of the Warlord of the region. It is comprised of soldiers from a variety of races and ethnicities, including humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, and other humanoid creatures. These soldiers are drawn from a range of backgrounds, including soldiers, criminals, low-life's, and forcibly conscripted individuals. Many of the Horde's soldiers have little to no loyalty to their commanders, and may only be fighting out of a sense of self-preservation or personal gain. They wear whatever clothing they can scavenge or strip from the dead, and as a result, they have no uniforms. This can make them difficult to identify or distinguish from non-combatants. In addition, The Horde has practically no cleanliness standards, and their soldiers are often unhygienic and unkempt. The Horde is made up of small bands of soldiers, with each band consisting of 15 to 20 soldiers under the control of one commander. These bands are known as "troops," and are often named after their commander. Troops can be highly mobile and can travel over great distances, making them difficult to track and engage in battle. Without the control of a commander, The Horde's soldiers will often revert to indiscriminate chaos, destruction, looting, and carnage. This makes a strong commander essential for keeping the troops under control and directing their efforts towards strategic goals. However, the loyalty of the troops to their commander can be tenuous, and a weak or ineffective commander may find themselves overthrown, abandoned or killed by their troops. ###### Horde Commanders ![[Horde Commander.jpg]] A horde commander carry themselves with an air of authority and power, their presence alone enough to command respect and obedience from their soldiers. The horde commander's eyes are always scanning their surroundings, assessing potential threats and opportunities for battle. They are always ready for combat, and can quickly pivot from negotiations to violence if the situation calls for it. They wear heavy armour, typically made from scavenged materials like chain mail, plate armour, or even pieces of scrap metal crudely fastened together. Their weapons are usually a massive great sword, wielded with deadly precision, and a few javelins strapped to their back for ranged combat. ###### Typical Horde Soldier ![[Horde Soldier.jpg]] The horde soldier is a ragged, unkempt individual with a fierce and desperate look in their eyes. They wear mismatched clothing, scavenged from various sources, and are often armed with crude weapons such as swords, axes, and spears. Their armour, if any, is also makeshift and appears to be cobbled together from various pieces of scrap metal or leather. The soldier's skin may be weathered and scarred from years of fighting and exposure to the elements. Their hair is often wild and unkempt, and their beards, if they have them, are long and unkempt as well. They may wear war paint or other symbols of their allegiance, which could be anything from crude, hand-drawn designs to more elaborate markings indicating their troop or commander. Overall, the horde soldier appears to be a survivor, fighting tooth and nail to stay alive in a brutal and unforgiving world. Despite their rough appearance and lack of training, they are fiercely determined and willing to fight to the death for their cause. Notes: We came across them in [[Bridfair]].
