*MPX Gen 2, 8 inch barrel*
The *MPX* is a submachine gun developed by the American branch of SIG Sauer.
It operates using a short-stroke gas-operated system and fires from a closed rotating bolt - features not common in submachine guns. It also has a *free floating* barrel.
The MPX ships in the 9x19mm Parabellum calibre but can be easily converted to fire .357SIG or .40 S&W.
The fire selector and magazine catch are *ambidextrous*. The bolt catch paddle located on the left and the charging handle located at the back are designed to be reminiscent of the AR-15 platform.
An integral *Picatinny rail* runs along the top of the length of the upper receiver. Gen 1 models also feature Picatinny rails on the remaining sides of the handguard, whilst Gen 2 models have *KeyMod* slots instead. *M-LOK* rails replace KeyMod slots in the third generation.
The SIG MCX carbine is developed from the same gas piston system.
