# The Black Book This is *the Black Book*, my Obsidian vault intended as a compendium of all knowledge I have encountered and found interesting. This vault is *constantly revised* and *added to*. It was first created 27/04/2022. ![[BlueMondayLyricVideoBreak.png]] [^1] ## Navigation Either use the *side pane* to browse the entire list of notes or use the *search* to look for a particular topic. Below are notes that link to all notes related to its topic. ### Categories - [[Computer Science]] - [[Electrical Engineering]] - [[Firearm Types|Firearms]][^2] - [[Mathematics]] - [[Physics]] ## About me I am currently a *computer science* university student and I'm interested in physics, chemistry, mathematics, and engineering. I was doing mechatronic then electrical engineering before changing degrees. I play *guitar and bass* and sometimes drums, self-taught, and will one day figure out some music theory and make notes on it. The music I listen to ranges from rock to 80s synth-pop to synthwave. Synthwave is probably my most listened-to genre. I mainly play *FPS* video games and is where my interest in firearms arises. However, the interest is entirely from an engineering and video gaming perspective. I am lucky as an Australian to be in a country with low firearm related homicides. ### Contact If I've made a mistake anywhere, feel free to message me on Discord about it: cynixia or Cynixia#0135. ## About the vault ### Name The name *the Black Book* is derived from the inspiration of the vault, the [Pocket Ref](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pocket_Ref), a reference book shown on the 2005 Mythbusters episode *Shop 'til You Drop*. In the episode the book was nicknamed *the little black book*. ### Appearance I love *synthwave and cyberpunk* and so based some of the colours of the theme and diagrams on palettes of those aesthetics. In particular, the colour gradient of the horizontal lines and headings comes from the cover for the song [Light Slate by Emil Rottmayer](https://open.spotify.com/track/5Gl3mmY0MFrsP8eU1UV5Nr?si=6d08f845c4f0454e) which was designed by [Forces Creative](https://www.forcescreative.com/). ### Sources *Most* of the notes in this vault are *completely self-written*. The sources for any topic include Wikipedia, university resources, textbooks, and other books. Due to the number of sources referenced and due to the fact that the vault was originally only for my own use, *sources are not cited*. Some rigorous definitions, especially those in mathematics, are copied directly since they may be *irreplaceably concise*. I create my diagrams in Adobe Illustrator, use [KLatexFormula](https://klatexformula.sourceforge.io/) to format and pre-render LaTeX formulas for copying into Illustrator, and [gnuplot](http://www.gnuplot.info/) to render 3D plots. Some diagrams may be based on existing ones, though they are always created/recreated from scratch.
