They had a very limited service being that their whole thing was just to serve the Red Lion Hotel and Casino (get it?) out of [[Elko, NV]]. Using the local [[Elko Regional Airport - KEKO]] as base they operated mostly [[Boeing 737-200]]s and [[McDonnell Douglas MD-80]]s. [[Avelo Airlines|Casino Express Airlines]] also [[Wet Lease]]ed a [[Boeing 737-200]] to [[Tahoe Air]] in [[1999]]. [[Tahoe Air]] was a [[Startup]] that had provided [[Passenger Flight]]s from [[South Lake Tahoe Airport]] to [[Los Angeles International Airport - LAX - KLAX]] and [[San Jose International Airport]]. ## Xtra Airways [[Avelo Airlines|Casino Express Airlines]] eventually expanded their operations outside of only serving the [[Nevada]] casino. They expanded into [[Charter Flight]]s flying for customers such as [[Press]], [[US Government Agency|US Government Agencies]], Dignitaries and sports teams. Due to the growing number of non-casino customers they rebranded to [[Avelo Airlines|Xtra Airways]] in [[2005]] During the [[2016 US Presidential Election]] [[Avelo Airlines|Xtra Airways]] operated two of their [[Boeing 737|737]]s for [[Hillary Clinton]]'s bid for the [[The President of The United States|Presidency]]. The planes in question are [[B738 - N881XA]] and [[B734 N314XA]]. ## Avelo Airlines Enter Andrew Levy, the former [[CFO]] for [[United Airlines|United]]'s parent company, he wants to build an [[Ultra-Low Cost Airline]]. So he does what anyone does, he buys a dying [[Airline]]'s assets. That dying airline was [[Avelo Airlines|Xtra Airways]]. Unfortunately for Levy [[Avelo Airlines|Xtra]] had sold almost all of it's fleet to [[iAero Airways]]. They had one [[Boeing 737-400]] left just so they wouldn't lose their [[Part 121]]. A [[Holding Company]] based [[Houston, TX]], named Houston Air Holdings was announced by Levy in [[2020]] to hold the [[Avelo Airlines|Xtra Airways]] assets. After a round of funding [[Avelo Airlines|Xtra Airways]] added another aircraft to its fleet from [[GE Capital Aviation Services]] After rebranding to [[Avelo Airlines]] on [[2021-04-08]], they commenced operations on [[2021-04-28]] with 3 aircraft (this would grow to 6 aircraft by the end of the year). The inaugural flight was from [[Hollywood Burbank Airport]] to [[Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport]]. --- ## Workspace - Questions - - Theories - - Related Topics - - Potential Related Topics - - Potential Areas of Application - --- ## Sources 1.
