The identity that is currently controlling [[The Body|the body]] is called the "fronter". - **Triggers** Each identity has its own unique behavioral pattern that can be triggered by different situations. For example, one identity might be afraid of dogs, so another identity might take over when dogs are present. - **Switching** The identity that is currently controlling the body can switch out to another identity, which is called "switching". - **Co-fronting** When more than one identity is controlling the body at the same time, this is called "co-fronting". - **Online communities** People with multiplicity often connect with each other online through social media sites like Tumblr, Reddit, and TikTok. These communities can provide a sense of support and help with social isolation. Multiplicity can fall somewhere on a spectrum between identity disturbance and dissociative identity disorder (DID). Most people with multiplicity are able to function well in their daily lives.
