# Community
An open Obsidian vault documenting an ongoing exploration of new ways of human community living.
## Purpose
For various reasons — repetition, inadequacy, disconnection — more and more humans feel and share an intuition that a better human experience, with improved community living and shared existence, is possible.
This vault documents an ambitious effort to find a new path forward. It invites each contributor and reader to open their mind, let down their guard, let creativity flow and intuition reign — while being grounded in facts, the best of our knowledge, and the best scientific research we can find.
## Structure
The vault is split into two main categories:
### Concepts
Scientific building blocks. In Concepts, we discuss and list ideas with rigorous scientific foundation. Accepting a concept is a question of scientific honesty — these are facts, findings, and established knowledge.
Concepts **must contain sources** (academic papers, books, established research).
### Thoughts
Creative connections between concepts. Thoughts connect the dots between concepts to paint a picture of what is possible. A thought is a specific way to connect concepts — and it might not be *the* way. It is upon the reader to decide if they want to go with a thought.
Thoughts source their **author** and the **concepts** they draw from.
## Rules
Every note in this vault must have:
1. An **author** — who wrote or generated it
2. A **date** — when it was created
3. **Links** — connected to related concepts and thoughts
4. An **appropriate length** — no note longer than ~5,000 words; split if necessary
Notes can be very short — even a single paragraph — or extensive (up to the limit).
### On AI and Authorship
- **Concepts** can be entirely AI-generated. We are researching here, and sometimes it is easier for an agent to fill out a concept we have also read about.
- **Thoughts** must be human-created. They can be AI-assisted, but thoughts are a sort of art — the creative and connective aspect is a human contribution.
## Note Format
Every note uses YAML frontmatter:
```yaml
---
author: Name or "AI"
date: 2026-03-02
type: concept
---
```
Followed by a summary callout and body content. See [Note Guidelines](Concepts/Note%20Guidelines.md) for full formatting rules.
## Contributing
Open your mind. Challenge assumptions. Ground your ideas in evidence. Link generously.
