# Quinone
**Quinones** are a class of [[lipids]] molecule that can act as an electron carrier. They are derived from aromatic compounds, which have ring structures in them. This structure allows electrons to move back and forth around the ring eaisily and rapidly. The ring also makes for a compound that is very chemically stable.

Quinones can act as [[electron carrier]], and for example [[vitamin K]] is a type of quinone too.
