# Psoriasis --- **Psoriasis** is an [[inflammation|inflammatory]] condition, where the [[skin]] is inflammed for long periods of time and causes very itchy [[skin lesion|rashes]] or scales. There is an [[autoimmune disorder|autoimmune]] component because we see the immune system attacking [[keratinocytes]] of the skin. There is no cure. It is commonly seen at the joints and in the feet. ## Treatment Treatiment of psoriasis aims to remove scales and stop skin cells from growing so quickly. Topical ointments, and medications can offer relief, as well as a light therapy called **PUVA**. This uses [[electromagnetic spectrum|ultraviolet light]] light plus a PO med called **psoralen** that helps increase light absorption (i think). ___
