# Lipogenesis --- **Lipogenesis**, sometimes called **de novo lipogenesis** is the [[anabolism]] of [[fatty acids]] from [[acetyl CoA]]. Acetyl CoA can come from carbohydrates, proteins and even alcohol. Lipogenesis generally occurs when one has taken in more [[biological energy|energy]] than the body needs.
