# Inhibin
---
**Inhibin** is a hormone of the [[reproductive system]]. It surprises the secretion of [[follicle-stimulating hormone|FSH]] or [[luteinizing hormone|LH]]. (Or maybe it's just LH...I can't tell).
It is secreted by granular cells of a maturing [[ovarian follicle|follicle]] during the follicular phase of the [[ovarian cycle]], which prevents excessive ovarian follicle development, and also allows the currently maturing follicle to keep going.
It is also secreted by the the [[ovarian follicle|corpus luteum]] during the luteal phase of the [[ovarian cycle]].
It is also secreted by [[testes|sustentacular cell]] when [[sperm]] counts are high, which is a way of regulating sperm production.
