# Hypoglycemia --- **Hypoglycemia** is a condition where [[blood glucose|blood sugar]] levels are lower than normal. It's defined as blood glucose being <60mg/dL. It is caused by not eating for an extended period of time, or by an overdose of [[insulin]] for a diabetes treatment. To treat hypoglycemia you can eat or drink something with [[monosaccharide|simple sugars]] such as a fruit juice or a candy bar.
