Back: [[Galatians]] There are debates over whom Paul addressed in his letter to the Church in Galatia. The traditional view was Northern Galatia. This stemmed from the fact that Northen Galatia was the region known as Galtia! It was an official kingdom with this title. The Southern Galtia view holds that it was churches in an area which wouldn't be part of the kingdom of Galtia but would have large Galtian communities and would colloquially be known as Galtia. (The latter point was a later discovery, helping unlock the identity of the churches). The southern Galatia theory also aligns the churches with those mentioned during Paul's missionary journeys in Acts. Today, the Southern Galtia view is the predominant.
