Link: [[1 John]] Was it the same writer as the gospel of John? There are similar themes in the letter and the gospel. If it was not the same writer, it is definitely someone from within a "johannine" school or grouping within the early church. [[N.T. Wright]] and [[Mike Bird]] certainly think it was the same writer and they believe it was "[[John the Elder]]" (same in the Cornerstone Bible Commentary.) tag: #to/process
