I'm an academic so generally writing is working and working is writing. Sometimes I say that my writing isn't working but this isn't to deny it as legitimate labor but instead to point toward my perception of its functionality. **For instance:** > This summary isn't working for me. Nevertheless, most of my work can be described of as writing (at least in some form) and generally means the inscription of legible text to an enduring medium (usually a screen, but also I'm sure [[The Database]]). ## My own insights about writingworking Lately, I've been surprised to find out how much of my writingworking isn't the sort of writing or working that brings me much joy. Of the thousands upon thousands of words I put to a medium in my week the majority are just emails and perfunctory administrative work. I'd much rather be writing and working on something else.
