## Meaning
The radical 卩 (jié) is a Chinese character component that consists of a vertical stroke topped by a dot, and is derived from the ancient Chinese character for a kneeling person. It is a relatively uncommon radical that is usually located on the right side of a character. The radical 卩 is used primarily to indicate the pronunciation of a character, and does not carry any specific meaning in and of itself. It is an important component of many Chinese characters, and appears frequently in characters related to politics, law, and religion.
