# Find permits at an address in Chicago A Property Report for an address or PIN in Chicago has information about (1) building permits that are pending, (2) building permits that have been issued, as well as (3) environmental permits that have been issued. ## How to look up any permit type 1. To look up any of those at a property in Chicago, [search for the address](http://chicagocityscape.com/address.php). 2. Select the address to open its Property Report. 3. In the Property Report, scroll down until you see the table of contents. In the table of contents, select the link for "Building permits & data". If the property has received a building permit recently, or there are pending permits nearby, these labels will appear next to the link (see screenshot 1 below). ![[Pasted image 20240702000523.png]] *Screenshot 1 showing the table of contents for a Property Report* ## Building permits, issued After following the instructions in [[#How to]], a small version of the Building Permits Browser specific to the location you looked up will appear. Permits always, by default, appear in the order they were issued starting with the most recent one. - If there are any permits with an address matching the one you looked up, the map and data table will show only the permits issued to the matching address. - If there are not any permits with a matching address, then the most recent permits that were issued within 1/8 mile (one Chicago block) will appear instead. ## Building permits, pending In the Property Report, you can switch over to show [[Pending Permits]] by selecting the "Pending permits" tab next to the Building Permits Browser tab (see screenshot 2). ![[Pasted image 20240702000929.png]] *Screenshot 2 showing the Pending permits and Building Permits Browser tabs next to each other. Use these tabs to switch between the issued and pending permits on a Property Report.* ## Environmental permits Chicago Cityscape also has environmental permits that are issued by the Chicago Department of Public Health; our system checks for new permits several times daily. 1. Check for environmental permits at a location in Chicago by returning to the Property Report's table of contents. 2. Then, select the link "Show Additional Snapshots" to expand the list of snapshot reports that are related to this Property Report. 3.
