# Open to Goal
> āSuccess comes down to doing the obvious thing for an uncommonly long period of time without convincing yourself youāre smarter than you are.ā

Once you have a clear idea of what you should be doing ([[Doing the Right Thing, then Doing the Thing Right]]) success largely becomes a basic inputs and outputs game.
Doing the thing consistently until you get the result. Simple.
Of course, [[Simple Isn't]]. Life is full of friction. Your brain is a distraction magnet. So, setting up a [[SMART Goal]], and then making sure you remove the barriers to getting that goal done, is the way to get things done.
When setting a daily goal, think of it as a promise to someone else. And then keep your promises. No matter what.
You donāt just commit to doing something a specific number of times, or for a specific amount of time⦠you commit to the work until you hit a specific number of outcomes. No matter what.
Work until the job is done. Give up the idea of ādoing your best.ā Instead, do what is required. And sometimes that means your best just needs to get better.
