# The Mic-Bomb Theory > **The claim:** Someone on Kirk's team detonated a "mic-bomb" by **grabbing his shirt** — the shot was an inside job triggered up close. **Verdict: FALSE / UNSUPPORTED.** ## What fuels it A downstream elaboration of [[The Microphone Exploded|the exploding-mic theory]], built entirely on **slow-motion readings of low-quality video** — a hand near Kirk's shirt read as "triggering" a device. ## What the evidence shows (the primary record) - There is **no explosive residue and no forensic finding** of any device or blast anywhere in the case file. - The same primary evidence that, **on the current record**, contradicts the exploding-mic theory contradicts this one: the **medical examiner's gunshot-wound finding** ([[2025-09-17 - The Search Warrant Affidavit|The Search Warrant Affidavit]]), the recovered **[[The Rifle|rifle]]** and **[[The Engraved Casings|casings]]**, and the **bullet fragment recovered at autopsy**. If the defense later put on an expert who could impeach that evidence, that would have to be weighed; the hearing is ongoing, but **as the record stands** it has nothing to stand on.
