I'm starting notes now, just finished the second dungeon.
I'm REALLY enjoying this game so far, I also bought it physically!

I was actually surprised how much I liked the experience of buying the physical game. I did store pickup at Best Buy, and it was really fun to get handed the box and look at it in my car, and the anticipation to play as I was heading back.
I haven't had that experience in a *long* time as I've truly been 100% digital since the Wii U allowed full downloads from the eShop, with a few exceptions.
But after Both the Wii U and 3DS eShop went offline, I knew being full digital was not the way I want to go. Right now if anything were to happen to my 3DS or Wii U, I'd have absolutely NO way of recovering the games I bought on the eShop. At all, that's thousands of dollars (probably? lol) that would just poof into the ether.
Nintendo just doesn't have the ecosystem to support being full digital. I think it's pretty wild that I can still run an app that I bought on my iPhone almost 15 years ago, but Nintendo *never* has backwards compatibility more than two generations behind.
So, I'm going physical, full convert. Smaller games like Hades and Hollow Knight I will still download obviously but that's not going to be the majority of my games.
I'm also really hoping that Nintendo is going to *attempt* to move forward with making the Switch a platform rather than just a console. I really would like full backwards compatibility with all existing switch games (Physical and digital). There's really no reason why it shouldn't. INCLUDING NSO games / apps.
Physical vs Digital is an important conversation but feels off topic for this note lol so I'll just write what I remember about the game.
# General Thoughts
MAN, I love this game so much already. It really is a perfect blend of the BoTW / [[Game - Zelda - Tears Of The Kingdom|ToTK]] open concept and the classic Zelda formula.
I'm glad ACTUAL dungeons are back, even though they are *relatively* simple.
I'm really enjoying the echo mechanic, though I do also just wish I had a sword and shield full time haha. I definitely need to experiment more.
I like that they've brought over cooking, or smoothie making, from the Open Style to the Classic Style. You do get a lot more ingredients in BoTW though, they are harder to come by in EoW.
This is a very story and cutscene heavy game, I would have liked to hear some actual voice acting, but also understand why there isn't. If Nintendo still had a dedicated Console / Handheld device split like before, this would 100% be the handheld game counter to the console ToTK. so obviously the production value isn't going to be as high, but I would have liked *some* voice acting.
