Updates
- If you're struggling to fit suppression then drop the Action Speed ascendancy and take the Suppress one until you can, it is non-negotiable to have less than 100% suppress chance.
- Make sure you are setting up your PoB just like mine to get accurate dps. If you are unable to figure it out, load up my PoB and import your character on top of it.
- Wand issues are the most common problem for lower DPS. Your wand MUST have Crit / Attack speed to have full dps. If you are unable to make the very endgame wand, then make the multimod wand.
Disclaimer
- This is not a new player friendly build, it is also not a league start build. I have included some information on how to do funded leveling in the PoB however.
- If you need help with this build join my [Discord](https://discord.gg/YtRKj6qRPx) and look for the dedicated channel under the ducks-builds threads.
Elevator Pitch
- A tanky wand based map blaster that doesn't rely on insanely expensive archetypes like int or strength stacking. Still deals enough damage to farm juiced T17s comfortably while being mostly mod immune.
Credits
- [Palsteron](https://www.youtube.com/c/palsteron) for showing off the Tornado tech, even if I didn't use it in the same way.
Path of Building Links
- [All in One Path of Building](https://pobb.in/FGEin5zk6fGv)
- There are 5 Loadouts available in the top right of the PoB, My Character, a Base Setup, a setup that does not require gem swaps for bosses, a Budget setup, and an Early Leveling setup
- My Character
- This is how my personal character is setup, it uses some relatively optimized gear and may have pieces that are somewhat difficult to obtain. This or something similar should be your eventual goal.
- Base
- This is the core of the build and should be obtainable by most people.
- No Gem Swap
- If you can't handle swapping a gem for T17 bosses, this is set up to have a separate clear and a single target version of Kinetic Blast. It loses out on auto proc'd Svalinn spells as well as a small amount of Phys Max Hit.
- Budget
- Designed to be a somewhat inexpensive set of gear that should allow you to farm some basic juice content like Breach or Abyss to get to the high 90s. This is only budget because it is a bit into the league, this is not a league start setup.
- Early Leveling
- This is the gear I used to level the build from Beach -> Maps
- [Not As Tanky High DPS Helmetless Version](https://pobb.in/965KvJ5dbjK8)
- I heavily suggest that you do not play this version but I'm including it here if you want to do some strat that just wants damage and doesn't care about defenses as much. I am not supporting this version so don't ask questions about it.
- Mageblood
- I don't play with Mageblood the vast majority of the time, but you would probably just use the same flasks but maybe Onslaught instead of quicksilver and fit in some more damage mods instead of resists on gear. IMO if you're going to use Mageblood you might as well go Int Stack at that gear level
FAQs
- What is this build good at?
- Juiced T17s
- The build is optimized for clear, it won't excel at strategies that make single extremely tanky monsters like Juiced Rogue Exiles, or that boost the defenses of Map Bosses heavily.
- A strategy that I farmed quite extensively with this build is the standard strongbox t17 strat. I personally used a modified version of [Fubgun's Cheap box Tree](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vR35NJkrhF1Zf9SZZOPlsdpqbTibL2AqOiZosya0NSjEN5A1Dx8a_MeQox9VDLQw3kB0ibZCNb_e6VJ/pubhtml#) that goes red altars instead of blue.
- Mods to Avoid
- Runes of the Searing Exarch - the runes are difficult to see and we don't have passive recovery which makes these not worth it. Technically doable but I skip it every single time.
- Volatile Cores - Technically doable but I skip it every single time.
- Meteor + Random Ele Gained / Other Heavy Damage Mods - this is a combo of mods but if you get Meteors + a bunch of really bad gained/reduced max etc they can one shot you pretty easily
- Reduced Chance to Block - main defensive layer of the build
- Annoying Mods but Doable as long as you don't stack a ton of these
- Consecrated Ground - can make some bosses VERY annoying if they have high defenses
- No Damage 3/10 Seconds - More frustrating than anything, only take this on the map if there isn't Gained Maximum ES and the map is VERY well rolled
- Gain % of Physical Damage as Random Element - when juiced this can roll upwards of 400% and is probably the most dangerous damage mod. Be careful combining this with literally any other damage mod if you're scaling map effect
- Bloodstained Sawblades - standing in the degen ground can kill you, this is mostly an issue when fighting bosses
- Maven Interference - swap to regen cut god power if the map also has a lot of tanky modifiers
- Awakener's Desolation - not that dangerous but still can kill you if you stand in it for too long
- Double Reflect - the combo of Tempest Shield reflect and the small amount of Physical Reflect will be too much to overcome if you have a ton of extra damage taken or character defense reduction
- -Max Res - If you stack this with ele reflect your tempest shield can one shot you, also be careful if you stack this with lots of damage mods
- Monster Types to Watch Out For
- Revenants - Corpse Explosions are dangerous from these specifically, ones from strongboxes and the rare mod seem to not do anything to us except with insane character based map mods
- Red - Altar Mods to Avoid
- Player Mods
- Reduced Flask Charges Gained / Effect
- -Fire/-Chaos Resist
- Take x Chaos Damage / Sec
- Boss Mods
- Consecrated Ground on Hit
- Enemies Lose Flask Charges
- Red - Annoying Altar Mods
- Player Mods
- Nearby Enemies Gain x - Careful with these if the map has lots of damage mods already
- Boss Mods
- Gain x as / Poison / Cover in Ash / Etc - Careful with these if the map has lots of damage mods already
- Blue - Altar Mods to Avoid
- Player Mods
- -Cold/-Lightning Res
- Proj Fired in Random Directions - This completely bricks the build for single target
- Blue - Annoying Altar Mods
- Player
- Phys Dmg Reduction
- Reduced Defenses / Frenzy
- Nearby Enemies Gain x - Careful with these if the map has lots of damage mods already
- Boss
- Steal Charges - Can make boss very tanky/dangerous
- Penetrate Res / Gained as X / Apply X on Hit - Careful with these if the map has lots of damage mods already
- Blind on Hit - can make you do a LOT less damage if your accuracy is only barely capped
- Monster
- Additional Proj - can be very dangerous on certain monster types
- Physical Damage Pen / Crush
- Boss Notes
- Abomination Boss - Nightmare of the Depraved Trinity
- This is probably the hardest boss for this build
- Kill Order - Maligaro -> Doedre -> Shavronne (You can kill doedre last on maps with no damage mods)
- Use Immortal Call on Shavronne charge up slam and the Trinity wind up over the head slam
- If you can get up against a wall consistently you don't need to swap to barrage here, I still do though
- This boss is much harder in Phase 1, if you stand still and tank all of the abilities on very dangerous damage maps you can die
- Citadel Boss - Nightmare of Uhtred
- Vorana has a charge up attack that can hit very hard on maps with lots of damage mods, use Immortal Call here.
- Fortress Boss - Nightmare of the Unbreakable
- Use Immortal Call on the charge up slam, can still kill you with very heavy damage mods
- Sanctuary Boss - Nightmare of Lycia
- Use Immortal Call on the large charge up runes that she spawns, make sure to stay in the middle
- Has a melee slam where she flies into the air and then slams you, Immortal Call helps here but on very dangerous maps this can kill you, it is easily dodgeable
- Her Call Weapon ability where she says "Swift Death!" can kill you if you stand in it and get unlucky with blocks.
- Nightmare of Beidat which spawns at 50% has an ability that reduces your life/es recovery rate
- Ziggurat Boss - Nightmare of Catarina
- When she spawns skulls on the ground, you have to run over them to pop them before they spawn into crawling skeletons, if you end up spawning a ton of these, shield charge through and way past them to pop them without dying, probably want to use Immortal Call to do this in case they stun you. Alternatively just wait them out by running in circles
- Degen zones in this fight can be annoying, make sure to stand at the very edge of the arena as you kill a mini boss as that is where she will throw her staff
- The ability where she spawns a giant skull can kill you without Immortal Call, and can even still kill you on very heavy damage mod maps
- Pros of the Build
- Extremely durable
- Excellent recovery when hitting enemies
- Screen Wide and Off-Screen Clear
- Immune to most Map Mods
- Cons of the Build
- Not great bossing DPS and a gem swap is needed unless you play a slightly worse version of the build
- Degen Ground can be dangerous
- How expensive is this build?
- 1/5 SSF Friendly
- 2/5 Budget
- 3/5 Moderately Expensive
- 4/5 Mageblood / HH / Etc
- 5/5 Mirror Tier
- Build starts around 2.5/3 but can scale to 4, not worth pushing to 5, better to go Int Stack at that point
- How does the build survive?
- Avoidance Layers
- 70% Block / 80% Spell Block
- 80% Evasion
- Defensive Layers
- Decent Life Pool + Energy Shield
- Endurance Charges
- Immortal Call
- Spell Suppression
- Phys Taken as Ele
- Aspect of the Crab
- Max Res from Flasks
- Recovery Layers
- Leech / ES Overleech
- Life Gain on Hit
- Polymath on Kill Recovery
- Ghost Dance
- Regen from Conc Ground
- Utility Layers
- Corrupted Blood Immunity Jewel Implicit
- Elemental Ailment Immunity from Stormshroud
- Reduced Effect of Curses from Flask + Conc Ground
- Stun Avoidance from ES + Flask
- Action Speed Immune from One Step Ahead
- How does the build sustain its abilities?
- We hit extremely frequently and have both Instant Mana Leech and Mana Gain on Hit
- How does the build deal damage?
- We stack mainly Lightning Damage which has a large damage range. This when combined with Volatility gives us a significant boost in damage
- Spell Damage scales Kinetic Blast at 2x efficiency, we obtain a large amount on our wand and a few other places
- Tornado allows us to double dip on Kinetic Blast Damage, explained below
- We have Trickster ES Overleech which allows us to use while leeching mods
- Abyss Jewels scale insanely well on wand builds
- How do you level this build?
- I leveled as Kinetic Bolt -> Power Siphon and then Swapped to Kinetic Blast at early maps. I have included some basic leveling trees and gear in the Path of Building.
- Once finished with the campaign depending on how hectic you want the leveling to be you can go with an Abyss or Breach leveling strategy. Abyss will be much more chill, but quite a bit slower to level. Breach will be very fast paced and require some more gear.
- Staying alive is the #1 goal of leveling, so if you are dying just run your maps white until you can get better gear.
- I leveled from 1 -> 95 in one sitting of about 8 hours as a wand build through the campaign and spamming breach in maps.
- If you have money, Headhunter can be a solid choice for offense and defense while leveling in maps.
- Weird Interactions?
- Tornado is able to be hit by Kinetic Blast, and when hit by it causes AoE explosions which are able to hit a single target one time. We also have 1 Pierce which allows the projectiles to also pierce the tornado and hit the boss. We have Tornado on Spellslinger as this allows it to always be in position to overlap
- When critting frequently, using 2-3x Surgeon Prefixes, and having a bit of Flask stats you can have a few Ele Flasks going almost full time on single target
- With a Vitality LGoH Watcher's Eye you can get significant healing from Ball Lightning which we are proccing with Svalinn
- List of Common Errors
- If you are having significant amounts of lag try running in Predictive mode
Ascendancy
- Trickster
- Polymath
- Provides significant Damage and Sustain while clearing
- One Step Ahead
- Gives Action Speed Slow immunity which is extremely helpful in juiced maps, also slightly slows enemies nearby
- Escape Artist
- Allows us to use a Pure ES Helm and Pure EV chestpiece
- Soul Drinker
- Provides ES Overleech which enables a ton of damage mods
Skills Used
- Main Ability(s)
- Kinetic Blast - The king of clear skills. Shoots out projectiles that cause a circle of explosions anytime the projectile pierces/chains/forks/returns.
- Aura(s)
- Life
- Vitality - Lvl 1 Watcher's Eye enabler
- Precision - Used to cap our Hit Chance
- Mana
- Tempest Shield - Spell Block
- Grace - Evasion is a main defensive layer
- Spellslinger Tornado - Explained above in weird interactions
- Lvl 30 Aspect of the Crab - we take physical damage very infrequently due to Block / Evasion so this gives us a nice buffer of Max Hit
- Utility
- Ball Lightning of Orbiting - Proc'd when we block with Svalinn, Vitality Watcher's Eye LGoH causes this to provide a signifcant amount of recovery
- Purifying Flame - Proc'd when we block with Svalinn, gives us a small amount of life regen as well as curse effect reduction
- Assassin's Mark - Source of Power Charges on Single Target, applied with Mark on Hit
- Sigil of Power - we level this up specifically enough with our mana cost / second to hit max stages as soon as possible. Provides Lightning Damage and Damage Reduction
- Immortal Call - used to tank very dangerous abilities
- Movement
- Shield Charge - Our main movement skill
- Flame Dash - Gap crossing
Gear
Test EVERY SINGLE CRAFT on [Craft of Exile](https://craftofexile.com) before doing any of these in game, do it multiple times until you absolutely understand what you are doing.
- Main Gear
- Mainhand - Crafted Fractured Rare
- Crafting Notes
- Base - ilvl 73 Minimum but ideally 84, higher is fine but not better, Imbued Wand with T1 Attack Speed Fractured, get as high as you can afford but anything lower than T2 is probably not worth over trying a different fracture like crit and swapping all the crit stuff for attack speed.
- Crafting
- Use Deafening Essences of Wrath until you hit T2+ Crit or T4+ Spell Damage
- Spell Damage Route (more expensive but best outcome)
- If you hit Spell Damage you need the other prefix open, you can try to use cannot roll attacks annul here for a better chance.
- Clean the Suffixes with Prefixes cannot be changed -> Scour
- You can stop here and do 3 Crafted Mods -> Crit/Stats -> Ele Pen if you don't want to spend a ton of currency and have a mostly the same wand
- Craft Prefixes cannot be changed and used a Veiled Orb
- If you hit a suffix, craft any of the Damage Per Charge mods to block and unveil for hopefully Crit / Stats, you can alternatively take anything with Crit Multi, Double Damage, Or Attack Speed. If you completely miss, clear suffixes with Prefix Cannot be Changed -> Scour and start over from the Veiled Orb Step.
- If you hit Crit/Stats craft Penetrate Ele Resist Prefix and Slam for a final suffix if you never plan on recrafting the wand, otherwise leave it open to recraft later or use the suffix for Level 30 Aspect of the Crab
- If you hit any other mod that is decent craft Crit/Stats and either leave the prefix open to try again later or slam if you never plan on recrafting it.
- If you hit a Prefix, unveil for Elemental Penetration, it should be guaranteed
- If you don't want to spend more money craft Crit/Stats and be done
- If you want to go one step further do prefixes cannot be changed -> crit harvest reforge until you get either T2+ crit chance or any global crit multi roll and craft the other. Crafted Crit/Stats is ideal here as it saves you points and gear slots elsewhere
- Crit Chance Route
- All useful mods at this point should have the attack tag meaning as long as you have 1 open suffix you can safely clean the wand with Cannot Roll Attack -> Annul and repeat until clean
- My suggestion is to craft 3 Crafted Mods -> Spell Damage / Gained as Chaos -> Ele Penetration and be happy, going further than this is much easier with the spell damage route above
- If you want to continue, craft Prefixes cannot be changed and 50/50 a veiled orb on the suffixes, it will either take off the crit in which you can multimod if the veiled mod hits something worthwhile or you can restart.
- If it hits the Prefixes cannot be changed
- If you get veiled prefix craft physical damage and unveil for a Spell damage roll if it shows up, and otherwise take ele pen
- If you get a veiled suffix take whatever you can get and craft Ele Pen on prefix and slam the last prefix for something good hopefully
- Finishing
- Use Kingsmarch to apply Spell Damage enchant, if you have tons of currency and hit a god tier 5/6 mod wand you can consider the big boi enchant.
- Offhand - Unique
- Svalinn - Chance to Block is Lucky is an insanely powerful stat that allows us to increase our block chance further than max even with the -10% Max. It also allows us to proc a few useful elemental spells when we block
- Helmet - Crafted Fractured Rare
- Crafting Notes
- Craft this LAST as it is the hardest to hit the proper suffixes on, you will want to know how much resistances you need before starting here
- Base - ilvl 84+ of the highest ES only base you can afford with Fractured Life T2+. I don't suggest going for Lich's Circlet as the int requirement can be ever so slightly too high if you're using any tattoos whatsoever, Sunfire Circlet is ideal
- Crafting
- Use Deafening Essences of Woe until you hit T2+ % Energy Shield (I personally went for T1 but it might take a while)
- Make sure the helmet is Eater of Worlds Dominant and use Eldritch currency to hit 2x Resist Suffixes that are high enough to slightly overcap your resists
- Craft 6% Spell Suppress
- Finishing
- Use Eldritch Currency to get your implicits
- Use Crafting Bench Slot trick to get offcolors if needed (craft 2 offcolors and then go back and forth between 2 slot / 3 slot until you get the color you want and then 3 slot / 4 slot until you get the next color you want)
- Body Armour - Unique
- Replica Hyrri's Ire - provides a crazy amount of added lightning damage and suppression. Overall good chest when combined with Trickster Ascendancy. Use Vorici Calculator to find the best way to color your chest, it is probably 2b1r benchcraft
- Gloves - Crafted Fractured Rare
- Crafting Notes
- Base - ilvl 84+ of the highest Dex/Int base you can afford with 12%+ Suppress Chance Fracture, you don't need to go for super high bases here, it doesnt really matter, just get 12% suppress fracture
- Crafting
- Use Deafening Essence of Zeal until you hit T1 of any Elemental Resistance
- Make sure Searing Exarch Implicit is dominant
- Use Eldritch Currency to re-roll prefixes until you get an acceptable life roll. Typically this means block % or + to Evasion/ES and slam Eldritch Exalts and use Eldritch Chaos to reset
- Craft +1 Pierce
- Slam if open prefix
- Finishing
- Use Eldritch Currency to get your implicits
- Use Harvest Bench to change the resist to whichever you need
- Use Crafting Bench Slot trick to get offcolors if needed (craft 2 offcolors and then go back and forth between 2 slot / 3 slot until you get the color you want and then 3 slot / 4 slot until you get the next color you want)
- Boots - Crafted Fractured Rare
- Crafting Notes
- Base - ilvl 84+ Of the highest Dex/Int base you can afford with T1 Chaos Resist fracture, you don't need to go for the super high base, just focus on getting the fracture
- Crafting
- Use Deafening Essence of Rage until you hit any T1 Elemental Resist
- Make sure Searing Exarch Implicit is dominant
- Use Eldritch Currency to re-roll prefixes until you get an acceptable life roll. Typically this means block % or + to Eva/ES and slam Eldritch Exalts and use Eldritch Chaos to reset
- Craft Movement Speed and Onslaught on Kill
- Slam if open prefix
- Finishing
- Use Eldritch Currency to get your implicits
- Use Harvest Bench to change the resist to whichever you need
- Use Crafting Bench Slot trick to get offcolors if needed (craft 2 offcolors and then go back and forth between 2 slot / 3 slot until you get the color you want and then 3 slot / 4 slot until you get the next color you want)
- Base Amulet - Crafted Fractured Rare
- Crafting Notes
- Base - ilvl 84+ Turquoise or other 2 stat ammy depending on Stat needs with as high of a chaos res fracture as you can afford
- Crafting
- Use Deafening Essence of Scorn until you get a T1 Elemental resist roll, an all elemental resist roll, or a t2+ life roll.
- Craft Life or Hybrid Res depending on what you hit
- Slam any open prefixes
- Finishing
- 20% Resist Quality
- Anoint with Prism Weave for Damage (preferred), or Safeguard for defenses
- Ring 1 - Crafted Fractured Rare
- Crafting Notes
- Base - ilvl 84+ Amethyst Ring with a T1 Elemental Resist Fracture or as high as you can afford, getting a lower fracture here will make crafting the helmet much more difficult so try for T1
- Crafting
- Use Deafening Essence of Scorn until you hit an acceptable life roll and an open suffix (you may need to annul)
- Beastcraft Level 30 Aspect of the Crab (unique crab + black morrigan)
- Craft Lightning Damage to Attacks
- Slam for final prefix if one is open
- Finishing
- 20% Resist Quality
- Anoint with desired mod if doing Blight
- Ring 2 - Crafted Fractured Rare
- Crafting Notes
- Base - ilvl 84+ Amethyst Ring with a T1 Elemental Resist Fracture or as high as you can afford, getting a lower fracture here will make crafting the helmet much more difficult so try for T1
- Crafting
- Use Deafening Essence of Scorn until you hit a T1 Elemental Resist or T2+ Life Roll and an open suffix (you may need to annul)
- Craft Life or Hybrid Resist depending on what you hit
- Slam any open slots
- Finishing
- 20% Resist Quality
- Anoint with desired mod if doing Blight
- Belt - Unique
- Darkness Enthroned - Abyss Jewels are extremely powerful
- Mageblood
- Mageblood is super powerful, but realistically if you're using this item you probably just want to be playing Int Stacker instead as the price of this item is 3-4x the cost of the entire build, ill probably put together a mageblood pob but if it isn't in here don't ask, I know people will want it already
- Headhunter
- HH works but is not ideal, this isn't a phys based build and you will want Darkness Enthroned for single target. Can still use it and swap out to DE on bosses if you want and is perfectly fine for any T16 content or not juiced T17s
- Flasks
- Basic
- Flask Types
- Quicksilver - Movement speed is solid and you can never have enough on a clear build, you can have movement speed suffix or stun avoid if you are getting stunned a lot
- Sapphire - Max Resistances are good and this flask has solid uptime with Surgeons Prefix
- Topaz - Max Resistances are good and this flask has solid uptime with Surgeons Prefix
- Ruby - Max Resistances are good and this flask has solid uptime with Surgeons Prefix
- Suffix Mods
- Movement Speed / Stun avoid on Quicksilver only
- The other 3 can go on any of the elemental flasks
- Evasion Rating
- Crit Chance
- Reduced Effect of Curses on You
- Unique
- Dying Sun - Additional Proj and AoE are both insane for this build, excellent for clear and a huge dps up for barrage support
- Jewels
- Unique
- Watcher's Eye - Only necessary mod is Life Gain on Hit with Vitality, for a second mod try to get either a precision damage mod or grace evasion/suppress but those will be VERY expensive
- The Light of Meaning - Lightning type, if this gets too expensive just get a a Lethal Pride for the same slot with Intimidate on Hit and DD/Str in the other spots
- Stormshroud - We use a bunch of Abyssal Jewels which makes it super easy to cap our ele avoidance with this
- Basic
- One Basic or Abyss jewel with Corrupted Blood Immunity Implicit, get life and any other mods you can afford
- Abyss Jewels
- 2x Fractured Lightning Damage With Wand Attacks is ideal for the belt, but Generic Lightning Damage to Attacks is also okay, get as high of a roll as you can afford
- Crafting Notes
- Use Crit Reforge on the Harvest Bench to get Crit Multi and another good mod, use Exalts to slam for a 4th good mod, be willing to spend some money here, it is a large source of stats
- 1x Fractured Shock Avoid or Phasing on Kill Jewel
- You can supplement additional avoid with boot implicits
- Crafting Notes
- Use Harvest Life Rerolls until you hit the other mod you didnt fracture and if you get any even somewhat keepable mods you probably want to just stick with it.
- If you can't get this jewel just get any jewel with Shock Avoid and some okay stats from trade and try to get phasing elsewhere (swap quicksilver for quartz, phasing on another jewel etc, you dont NEED phasing but its very nice)
- Cluster Jewels
- Large Shield Attack Clusters
- These will probably be expensive but are worth it, the suffix mod doesn't matter with the exact prefix combo, it is always in the back.
- If they become too expensive pretty much any attack jewel that works for the build with Feed the Fury and any other good front end node is acceptable. Or if you want more defenses take Prodigious Defense and any other good front end node.
- If you want to make these yourself you are probably best off doing alt-aug-regal-exalt crafting or using Attack harvest reforge + annul/exalts
- Small Reservation Cluster
- Sublime Form is mandatory, I went for All ele res alongside it, get whatever stats you need here
- Tattoos
- Intelligence
- Chaos and Lightning Resist to Cap
- Dexterity
- 1x or 2x Blind on Hit
- Cold Resist to Cap if you're struggling with resists on gear
- Flask Effect Duration for all additional Tattoo slots, you can also use mark effect but Flask Effect helps with ele flask uptime on bosses
- You can use Suppress Tattoos to minmax a few things on the build but they are VERY expensive so I did not include them
